How do I add a reset button to RPI3 and RetroPie to reset a game

Not sure if this is the right place for this,if not can someone move it to the right one,Thanks..
I would like to add the reset button from my Mega Drive to RPI3 via the GPIO pins and it connected to the reset command in RetroPie..?
Any Ideas how to do it,Maybe Step by step please.

@spannernick1 This blog post may help since you basically want to detect a GPIO button press and then send a keypress (
Select+B) to reset the game.
