Video Preview in EmulationStation
-
@herb_fargus thanks for clarify, because it was a little hard to me to understand, I really not thinking about roms, and maybe because of that i didn't understand what you trying to say, that and my poor english too.
Please would be good if next time you take some more time to explain you a litttle bit more.., but i was admin too (i'm still admin , but no more in forums), and i can understand you don't have too much time to give details when writing.
Thanks mate, I really was feeling bad.

@fieldofcows Thanks for your hint to these 2 settings. It helps as a starting point. Nevertheless, after a certain time the video starts automatically. I would still prefer a manual (optional) way or might there be also an option to fadeout after some time?
-
@HurricaneFan thanks a lot man for that but, the theme dont need install dependancies and change emulations station from original retropie setup to add video preview feature?
-
@Nismo what's the most recent release of your Old Room theme? 1.8??
-
@__Scannigan__ yes
-
@naxxi I'm running the latest version of EmulationStation. Try running the update all packages script if you have trouble with the video previews.
-
Hi
@fieldofcows ... i install your last Emulation Sation release to use it ... and i will try to make a beautifull theme :)
But i have a problem ... like many other peoples over the net ... when i read a video, the Pi is very hot !!
Is it possible to active the VLC harware video decoding in the Shell ?
With it ... like Kodi can do ... we can read MP4 MKV in x264 without any problem :) -
@Nismo Cheers bud, works a bloody charm, had to downsize a few images to stop WSOD, all I need now is a Game Gear one and I'm set :)
-
Hello all, i'm working with darknior on the same project :) really happy to see him here :)
@HurricaneFan yes i'v finally followed all parts of the tuto with distant terminal (putty) on root access and evrything work
@fieldofcows
we have an little options absent on the meta data game editor can you on futur version add an "hide" option to hide for example in neo geo his bios file, this can be help in mame too for some game like moonwalker who need child + parent rom to work but dont want to see both trough the roms selection menu.Thanks in advance about any answer

There are a lot of post in this forum explaining how to do that.
Take a look here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/622/hiding-bios-file

Thanks i don't see it before.
But it is not very cute :p ... an XML option is really easyer to use ;)
The only good solution on this page was to make a linux cmd script ... we will have the same problem on MAME, DOS, etc ... not really cool ...For my question i found one page :
http://intensecode.blogspot.fr/2013/10/tutorial-vlc-with-hardware-acceleration.html
Step 4: how to run it with hardware acceleration enabled from command line:
./vlc --vout omxil_vout <other_params_you_might_need> (Info: you absolutely have to use the param --vout omxil_vout for vlc to use the custom video output for raspberry!)
Maybe it can help ? I think it's an important issue to solve ....
To remove the "Green Glitch" on some videos and stop the pi "burning" without hardware acceleration :p -
@Nismo I tried this on my Pi3 and got nothing :(
-
@Scannigan What exactly you tried to do?
-
@Nismo adding a sound to system view on ES launch, I'm on a Pi 3, not sure if you're on a PC though, used the lines that Fieldofcows suggested, but nothing happens for me
-
@Scannigan As far I know, @fieldofcows didn't add that feature to the master branch.
Would be very good if he add it because it's working very well on windows.
-
@Nismo I've got a whole queue of things that need to be added but am holding back pending testing to make sure any changes are stable. Finding time to test myself is really difficult.
-
@fieldofcows That's why we are here 😉
-
I'm not the most tech savvy person but happy to help where/if I can! @fieldofcows vid preview is working like a dream, great work. @Nismo love your theme it's frigging awesome. I was struggling with WSOD on my Pi, however I discovered reducing image sizes to less than 50kb stopped that happening.
