I'm using Adafruit retrogame to bind my buttons using the GPIO on my Pi. I've bound four buttons to the number keys 1, 2, 3, and 4 so I can use them for save state, load state, increase state, and decrease state, respectively. Those bindings work perfectly. I can even go into the command line and see the output when pressing the buttons.

Unfortunately no matter how I edit the config my bindings don't stick. I've gone into the Retroarch settings countless times to remap those functions to my buttons and they appear to have taken, at least in the input menu, but when I go back to the game I get nothing. I've even gone into my retroarch config and changed it there and that's reflected when I look at the input settings yet again while in-game (in the retroarch overlay menu) but still nothing.

Saving works via the retroarch popup menu but not via my bindings. What am I missing here?

Thanks for any help you can give.
