problem with running mame4all roms from usb

Hi , I have a RPi 3 and just updated all files online and think it says version 4.07. I am new to retropie but have most of the system working well. I have a 32g sd card with all roms and have made all the same rom directories on the usb memory witch is also a 32g . The problem I hope is easy but I am stuck so far. I edited the rom path for /media/usb0/ and all the Ir-mame4all will all work fine from the usb. The problem is when I edit the mame emulator from Ir-mame4all to change it to use mame4all the roms are not found. I can only think I have to edit another config for this to work but cant see where.
this because some roms require mame4all like asteroids etc
