Dual joystick controller setup

Hi,
Actually I have 2 identical joystick controller in my setup. 1 controller assigned for each player (1 stick and 6 buttons). Is it possible to configure both controller for 1 emulator ? Here is an example of what I want to do. In the "Robotron 2084" game, I want to use the left joystick of the controller 1 to move the character and the stick of the second controller to fire in 4 directions.
Any Idea ? Thanks !
Raspberry pi version: 2
Retropie version 4.1
Emulator: lr-mame2003 -

After launching 'Robotron 2084', press the 'Tab' key and navigate to the game-specific control settings. From there, you should be able to map the relevant controls to the separate controllers.

I know that I can do it with ADVMame but i'm not sure with lr-mame2003. I will check that tonight. Thanks!

It'll work all the same. I had a similar setup on my key-mapped dual thumbstick controller before dank added the ability by default.
