      Ok, I have looked at the wiki but I'm having the opposite problem.

      All of my MD roms are in the MD directory...but the EmulationStation front end still comes up with 'Genesis' and i'd rather have them IDed as Megadrive. Any hints please? I'm using simple-dark as my theme if that matters.

        @deusxm I guess that theme is set up differently from Carbon. You could either edit your es_systems.cfg, or change to the Carbon theme (some other themes may also show Megadrive when roms are placed in that folder, but I use Carbon).

          Looking at this page:
          https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-simple-dark

          If you go to the genesis/art and megadrive/art folders you'll see the images for the systems are the same (both genesis), so editing the es_systems.cfg file in your case won't make any difference. This theme was possibly not updated to include megadrive images. You might want to change to another theme which has them included. Simple seems to have them, as does the one I use, which is carbon-nometa (or carbon). Or you could replace the images yourself.

          You could raise it as an issue, @herb_fargus might be able to then update the theme to include megadrive imagery, and then you can just reinstall it.

          Thanks

            Thanks guys - I was worrying I was being thick, but thanks for clearing up that it's a theme limitation.

              @deusxm

              What you could always do, if the theme is not updated and you do not wish to change over to another, is take the three megadrive images from the simple theme here:
              https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-simple/tree/master/megadrive/art

              And upload the images to the same megadrive folder in the simple-dark theme (which i think is stored under etc/emulationstation/themes). You would then either need to edit the theme.xml in the megadrive folder and replace the references to the old files over to the new ones, or you could just rename the new image files to be the same as the existing Genesis images and overwrite them. Then restart emulationstation for any changes to show up.

              Personally i'd give one of the carbon themes a try, they are also excellent.

                in the es_config.txt file, under megadrive change <theme>megadrive</theme> to <theme>genesis</theme>

                  @JoargTheBard

                  Unfortunately this won't work with the simple-dark theme currently, because the genesis and megadrive themes contain exactly the same images as I mentioned above. If you change es_systems.cfg you will just get the same images on that theme. Not the case for other themes though, which do have different megadrive and genesis imagery.
