      I don't quiet understand, I'm a noob.

I installed retropie on my Ubuntu 64-bit home computer running Intel i7-6700K, 16MB RAM, and nVidia GTX-980. I can't seem to run any MAME roms when I place them on either mame-libreto or mame-mame4all folders. The rom files are all zip file downloaded from [removed]. Any idea what could be wrong?

I also can't play all NeoGeo games either, only a select few. I have downloaded and save the neogeo.zip file in the neogeo roms folder. I can only play two games: Football Frenzy and Fatal Fury Special. I cannot play games like Goal Goal Goal!, King of Fighters 98, Metal Slug, Pulstar or any other.

I also did a search in the forum but found no thread relating to my problem.
      Could someone please help?

Do not say where to download roms - read this https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2/forum-rules and this https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

You can't just download any old arcade rom set and expect it to work - Check the documentation regarding rom versions - https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

Please also do not just stick your post on a 5 month old thread - open a new topic for help. I have forked your question.

Sorry about that and thank you for correcting my mistake. I did try posting a new thread but received a message that I needed at least 1 tag. I didn't know what that meant so that's why I chose this thread to reply to.

I see the list has quiet a few emulators. Once I download them, where should I save them?

Is there a list of emulators for Neo Geo roms?

On an i7 where you shouldn't have speed issues, you should probably choose the most recent emulator. Since retropie doesn't seem to provide installation script for mame2014 or current mame, lr-fbalpha is probably your best choice.

All emulators on https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs#quick-reference should provide neogeo compatibility, they just use different romset version, have different bugs or are able to launch a few more games (fbalpha is able to launch a few neogeo homebrew/hacks mame don't). If you plan on playing neogeo games only, there shouldn't be much difference, neogeo emulation haven't changed a lot those last 15 years.

@barbudreadmon we provide both lr-mame2014 and lr-mame in the experimental section.
