Launch KODI from Emulationstation: OK!!. Quitting from it: KO !!
-
Hi everybody:
I've Retropie 4.1 and KODI launched from kodi.sh <only one line with 'kodi-standalone'>. System runs properly kodi, but, when I want to left for going to emulationstation again, everything goes wrong. The screen where menu for exit options is displayed and to freeze. I loose control over my pi <cannot establish a putty connection, for example>. Nothing happens. I've to power off.
Is anybody with any issue like this? Thank you very much!!!

In kodi.sh use use just "kodi" instead of "kodi-standalone". kodi-standalone has problems when you do "exit" on the Raspberry Pi.

Thank you, @Rascas, but I'd tested that feature at my first stages when problem was raised. And I've test the alternative script on kodi.sh posted here https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/KODI and nothing does appear solve my problem....
I've tried to call out from ES kodi, via 'kodi' and 'kodi-standalone' and the same result. System hangs on exit....
Thank you very much.... But my question is still not solved.... :(

@JordiMayor if with kodi instead of kodi-standalone does not work, or launching normally from ports, it shoud be some problem of your setup. Post exactly everything you have, like explained here:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-firstAlso post your kodi log.
PS: Updated the wiki accordingly.

Sorry mate!!! I'll do it formally:
Model: Raspberry pi 3
RetroPie Version Used: 4.1
Built From: SD image on Retropie 4.1 <fresh install>
USB Devices connected: XBOX360 USB adapter, logitech external keyboard, USB 64Gb Kingston.
Controller used: XBOX360 gamepad (unusable in kodi --> like the left key was pressed all the time... this bug is documented in some forums)
Error messages received: System hangs when exit from KODI.
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant):
Emulator: kodi.sh <simple call to kodi>If any detail must be provided, please tell me about. Sorry for the last post... :(
I'll try to do it correctly next time.

I'm thinking my problem was SOLVED. I've reinstalled the lib-cec with this commands with a terminal instance:
#sudo apt-get update
#sudo apt-get install libcec-devAfter that, my system is quitting, but giving an error like "Exception System Exit in function_remove". I'd like to improve a nice and clean exit from my kodi, but at this time, is returning to EmulationStation.
The second issue, that was about controller, and the "left button pressed all the time" when trying to control my KODI via XBOX360, is not solved. But, I've two friends with the same issue and fresh installs. I'm thinking is a xpad issue (the new controller used in 4.1 for the incompatibility of the new linux core with xboxdrv).
Thanks and congratulations to this awesome team making Retropie the best emulation system at this time !!!

Xbox gamepads have a bug with the latest kernels/ drivers, it is a known issue that will only be fixed in Kodi 17.
Libcec-dev isnt used by kodi.
Disconnect the gamepad, make sure you launch through ports ( or with kodi instead of kodi-standalone in the sh script) and then if the problem persists, post here your full kodi log. Check the oficial Kodi wiki if you dont know how to get the kodi log.

Thank you very much, @Rascas for your info...
Yes, I've found the issue again... Now, it freezes again. It's very curious because when I installled the lib-cec systems made a quit and returned to my EmulationStation, but it is only like a dream, because now, I'm at the beginning again... :(
Sure, mate !!! I'll post my kodi log with pastebin link in a few hours. Now I'm going to teach, but I'll do it.
Thank you very much for your support. I'm very happy with the project and their team. I'll read you later !! ;)

Thank you very much for your support. I'm very happy with the project and their team. I'll read you later !! ;)I have the same problem with my PS4 controller and it will be solved in the future updates. So far I just connect my keyboard to the Pi if I want to use Kodi, not the best solution but it works as a temporary "fix".
