[Testing] Kodi 17.0 stable/final available for RetroPie!
-
@djsly Maybe on Monday.

Hi, thank you for the updated build, I've tried upgrading my Kodi 17 alpha1 originally installed from the same repository on Raspbian Jessie but after the upgrade I was unable to launch Kodi. So I've downgraded back to alpha1 which luckily works fine. So is it possible or are there any extra steps to upgrade from alpha1 to RC and should this build work on Raspbian?
-
@Peter Upgrading from the Alphas to the latest, should work, at least it worked for me. It can be some addon that you have installed. I recommend that you reset your settings, or check your log.
Installing the repo on Raspbian works, but I am not sure if you still have to add some groups to the user who is running Kodi and some udev rules to allow Kodi to do some things like mounting disks and reboot/shutdown. -
@Rascas OK Great. I'll probably try it again with RC3 if there will be a build available or just wait for the final build. Thank you.
-
I've managed to upgrade to krypton rc-1. how do i get from rc-1 to rc-3? Thank you for your time.
-
You have to wait until it is compiled and uploaded to the repo. When a new version is uploaded the information will be updated. Rc4 is the lattest test version by the way.

Kodi updated to 17 Release Candidate 4:
System fixes:
- Disable TV Standby on exit in TVs with CEC by default
- Readded "ES resolution fix on exit"
Just update the system, or follow the instructions on first post again.
-
How close is this to getting a stable release that can be included in RetroPie?
-
@robertybob When Kodi 17 stable/final gets released, that doesn't depend on me or RetroPie. It should take only a couple of days though, and then it will be available to install/update directly via the RetroPie-Setup option.

I just updated Kodi with using the method here but now my controller gets detected but the buttons don't work. It worked fine in retropie just before the update.
-
@eVenom Did you configure the controller in it ? Link is in the first post
-
You have to give more information for us to help you.
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-firstLike, what is your controller model ? What Kodi version you were using before updating to Kodi 17 ? Etc... Kodi logs are always of great help for us to detecting problems.
-
Sorry I should have been more specific
I have a Xbox one controller connected using USB. The controller worked fine in Retropie
Now that I updated Kodi retropie sees the controller but the buttons don't work in retropie let alone in kodi
This is a fresh install of Retropie and the kodi that was installed is the one that comes with it. I believe 16.1

@BuZz Kodi 17 final/stable is pretty close, this week or next one. When released, is it ok to upload the packages to bintray, so it can be updated trough RetroPie-Setup ?
Everything looks good for me, i am already using it in all my machines. -
I Deleted the controller configuration by using "rm /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_input.cfg"
Then I uninstalled the controller drivers in the Retropie setup and reinstalled them, after a reboot, the controller worked fine. Thanks, I hope this will help someone

@eVenom This topic is related to Kodi 17 testing versions. Read this first https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
and open a new topic with your problem. If your problem is just in Kodi, follow the steps in the first post, or wait till Kodi 17 gets released. -

you should never delete this file - it will break autoconfiguration of emulators if you ever add another controller - to clear ES input you can do it from retropie-setup / configuration / emulationstation

I succesfully updated kodi to 17.0 RC4 but i keep getting a popup on startup saying:
The following add-ons are incompatible with this version of kodi
and have been automatically disabled: Python Image LibraryCan't disable it or update.......
Edit: solved it by restoring kodi to default, updating from Jarvis with custom settings can result in errors so it seems
