Mame roms on retropie 4, best advice
-
Hey guys my 1st post! I love the raspberry pie and retro pie. Was able to format the sd card and boot with no issues, also playing nes and snes roms.
My issues is that with mame roms, namely street fighter 2 champion edition I run into issues, it pauses to load and then back to the rom list, i found a few that work, but seeking advice on mame games. I like that the nes roms seem to "just play" while the mame roms seem to require trial and error. I also noticed that n64 games seem to be sluggish.
Thank you for any advice.

No. Absolutely not trial error ever. You are probably the 10,000th person to post on here this statement:
"it pauses to load and then back to the rom list"It does this because you have not got the correct set of roms. Retropie has 6 versions of mame and the reasons why are well documented. You have not read the instructions. You have not said which mame version you are running and you have not read this which you agreed to do when registering:
Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
This will lead you to searching the forum before posting. There are 98 varied articles on this very topic.
Then you would find this:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2859/how-to-use-mame-with-retropie-help-guide
Which will answer your question.
Then read this from the instructions provided:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
Now you talk about N64 games are sluggish. You do not say what raspberry pi you are using as required in

If the wiki isn't a pleasant reading for learning how to manage arcade ROMs, maybe they prefer this book:
