360 controller and auto mapping unwanted buttons in mame

New RetroPi user here. So I loaded on several console rom's as well as a whole bunch of my fav arcade games. I'm using an xbox 360 wired controller with the analog to digital conversion turned on because the D-Pad on this thing sucks the big D. Other then that I let retro pi automap the buttons and thats fine for the consoles, but with MAME the program likes to map the arcade configuration toggle. CPS2 games had theirs mapped to the L3 button which I could only fix by unmapping L3. However another 2 button arcade stuck its game ending configuration button on the face four buttons. I attempted to find out who was doing the automapping and find a settings panel but the only one making any ties to it was MAME itself and it said the config key is tied to the keyboard at F2 still. Anyone know which setup screen I am looking for to alter this?
