      Hi guys,

Just a suggestion for a future version of Retropie... How about we make it easier to access the themes. As part of the install set the emulation station themes directory / ownership to something that works with the PI user (or just chmod 0777?) and then provide an alias to that directory inside ./Retropie alongside the roms directory etc then we can jump in and theme away happily with minimum fuss.

      Thoughts?

if you want to work on custom themes you should put them in ~/.emulationstation/themes - the /etc/emulationstation folder is not considered "user editable". the above folder symlinks to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation on latest RetroPie so you can easily access it over the network.
