I'm trying to play PixelJunk Monsters two player mode.

Using Pi 3 Model B with retropie 4.1 for one player. Ideally lr-ppsspp (cause my gamepad works), but I'm sure I can figure out the gamepad eventually using native ppsspp.

For the second player, I'm using ppsspp on windows.

So, for lr-ppsspp, the game works fine in single player mode however I don't know how to enable network support. Since I see a lot of people recommending ppsspp proper for performance reasons, I figured now is a good time to get that going.

In both my pc and pi, I went into the ppsspp settings and checked:

      • Enable Networking/WLAN
      • Enable built-in PRO ad hoc server.

      Attempt 1:
PC - started game and it attempted to connect the adhoc network, waiting for the second player.
Pi - when i selected 2 player game, it gave me error code 80410814

Not what that means. A quick stab in the dark, I figured maybe it was using a low port number and the pi user wouldn't have access to open it. So out of curiosity I changed my run command for ppsspp to start with "sudo" (yeah i know..).

Now it will doesn't give my any error code, but immediately I get connection timeout when I go to two player game.

Has anyone else had luck with multiplayer psp?

Turns out the upstream ppsspp site shows this networking for this game in particular to be not working.
