Retropie Omega
-
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Retropie Omega:
Mount Posts for a 40x40mm fan, for extreme overclockers:
The buttons are secured via 1mmsq joists so they could potentially be cut out and turned into functional buttons if desired. Future revisions of the Omega may incorporate specific button mountings, I just haven't had time to actually research boards and buttons, etc, so for now they're mostly decorative.
Yes, before you ask: I was..."inspired" by some of the design of the Retroengine Sigma.
They basically just copied from the Sega Genesis anyway so it's not like their design was wholly original, so I don't feel too bad about it.
I'm having this 3d printed now and I'll post more pictures of the actual physical product and final build once it arrives.
It was designed with the Raspberry Pi 3 in mind but it could theoretically fit any RPi with the same form factor as the 3.
I built this myself, from the ground up, in Fusion 360, so if requested I may release this under Creative Commons or some other open source license in the near future, if anyone is interested in printing their own.

Thats nice, I see what you did there ;)
Mmmmm, maybe de could make more of these, snes inspired, atari 2600, etc, I could lend a hand too if there is some interest, it wouldnt take too long if the model is simple enough. -
@tronkyfran yeah I'd like to, but I don't have a ton of time...so I dunno how doable that is. If I decide to make another one I will probably do it based on the SNES next, since I love the SNES more than any other system ever...
The good news is that since I have the base already modeled it would at least save me the necessity for having to do that, and I would just need to model the top. I'm still no artist though, so modeling takes a lot of time for me...

Would you mind to share the base model ? I would like to take a shot at making atari 2600.
I'm not an engineer though, so it would be nice if somebody with 3d printing experience check the final shape , because I dont have access to 3d printers and dont know if Ill put the mounts ok, or if the moving parts would have sense..etc. -
@tronkyfran I've actually released this design and all the files under Creative Commons NC SA! :)

So go nuts with it :) I don't have a 3d printer though so I don't know what needs to be done to improve this from a 3d printing perspective. Suggestions from the community or revisions would be greatly appreciated!

Thx a lot!!!!! Lets see what can I do with it!!! :D
