BlueMSX keyboard map problem - fixed!
-
Some games require pressing 1,2 or the spacebar to start a game. I have not found where I can map these keyboard buttons to the BlueMSX emulator. I went into the Retroarch config setup and did not see where to map them. If the keyboard could just work as a keyboard in the emulator it would be great but mapping would work too.
How can I map these keyboard keys to run some BlueMSX games?
Pi Model: 3
RetroPie Version Used: 4.1.5
Built From: 128GB image

Controller used: Wii U Pro
Emulator: BlueMSX -
You have to add the line below to /opt/retropie/configs/msx/retroarch.cfg to get the keyboard to work:
input_libretro_device_p2 = "3"

@eebuckeye I know this is an old post but maybe people are still watching it. I'm a noob so please be patient. My build looks like its the same as yours except I'm using retropie 4.4. Could someone please post step by step instructions how to do this. I have no clue where and how to enter that line.
Thank you in advance.

@arcaneruler if you press f4 on a keyboard you will end up at the commandline. Type
sudo nano /opt/retropie/configs/msx/retroarch.cfg
Anywhere above the #include.... line add
input_libretro_device_p2 = "3"
Then press ctrl & X to save then press Y then press ENTER

@edmaul69 Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. However the keyboard still does not work on coleco games. Any other advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

@arcaneruler does it work on msx games? You didnt state that you were trying to use it on coleco. Coleco is different as it doesnt use a keyboard on a real system. (Bluemsx doesnt emulate an adam computer) if you need to use a keyboard for the keypad your best bet is to use the coleco emulator called coolcv which is my favorite emulator for coleco and has better compatibility with homebrew games. The retropie wiki should tell you how to setup your controller for cool cv if it isnt already mapped correctly.

@arcaneruler in the retroarch gui when in game you might be able to map the keypad functions to the keyboard but i dont use bluemsx for coleco so i couldnt tell you.
