Just as it says, Using retropie's premade image 3.7 and booting from an SSD over USB I find that the machine hangs at "resizing filesystem". I am aware that deleting the /etc/profile.d/01-expand.sh file will stop the resize from triggering, but I am unsure if the resize is a necessary step when using an SSD (the drive was formatted with a full size partition). Also, Will running it later from the pi config menu cause the same issue?

Looks like I just have to install everything Retropie manually.
