-
We can try to help but "How to get Neo Geo to run on my Pi Zero" is pretty vague. Where are you having trouble?
-

@obsidianspider
I down loaded few games putting on pie In neogeo folder then went to game hit a the a black screen for 20 seconds then it go's back to list I did leave it zipped -
@rbaker
Sorry yes I'm not to good at this -
@Corykrist1 What ROMs? From what romset version are they? How do you know? What emulator are you using? Are you paying attention to parent roms? Have you read and understand all of the links @rbaker suggested above?

No No No No No, sorry that I am exasperated but you must read the instructions, the most basic being the one at the top of the page. Your post has been replicated many many many many times. You cannot say "the a black screen for 20 seconds then it go's back to list" on here anymore. It's just not possible, please. I'm dying here. Read my links, watch the video. It's not possible to ask this if you have. You need no technical knowledge to https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first............
MAME 25:17
The route to frustration and madness is beset on all sides by the practices of the impatient and the resolve of lazy men. Blessed is he, who in the name of thoroughness and good instinct, follows directions, for he will truly find his answers and conclusions to his problems.....deep breath.....and I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and fuuuuuuurious anger those who would attempt to corrupt and destroy my installation with false romsets. And you will know my name is MAME when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

@caver01
Reading them I try but it's like hieroglyphics I went to a rom site and looked at list of rom games under neogeo and clicked on the ones I wanted and dropped them in the neogeo folder on thumb drive.. I read where u need to download a neogeo. Zip file that I can't find just games -
I really wish Nintendo would have made more NES Classics…
-
@rbaker
U say to follow but just remember some people can barely get around on a computer like myself so when I read some of the stuff it doesn't make any sense to me I'm sorry for asking a question that may have been asked before yes I have read the rules yes I have looked down through the list of millions of stuff people have asked him posted but there comes to be a point when you have to call it a day ask a question again I've always been told the only dumb question the question that's not asked now this has been asked but then I looked and I don't see things -
@Corykrist1 We gave you a LOT of help and things to read. If you're not going to even try, or ask specific questions, we're going to get very frustrated in trying to help you. Help us help you by doing what we suggest before you say "I can't do it"

@obsidianspider
Again I have read and watched the videos and like I said I read where u take neogeo. Zip put it in bios OK where do I find neogeo. Zip I am not a computer guy by far I had to have help from a friend just to get as far as I have now -
@Corykrist1 Ok, I'm calm again.
This is what I think you did:
Downloaded random roms that could be compatible with the neo-geo emulator. Who knows from which set? Nobody, not even the site.
Possibly (but probably not) did you download the neo geo bios file and place it somewhere - but you don't say where.
You placed those roms in a folder somewhere - but you don't say where
You have launched an emulator - but you don't say which
In fact, you don't say much. In order for you to have done this, you have not read the 3rd link in my list, no way. It's for complete beginners and explains in minute detail not to do what you did and why. It is not written in ancient Egyptian either. The video I linked can be followed by anyone - fact.

@Corykrist1 It's going to be very hard for us to give you advice unless you have some grasp of the details. That alone may be beyond the scope of interest for some users. For example, you need to understand ROMs, what the files are and why they are grouped they way they are grouped. You need to understand MAME and how each version of MAME relies on a specific version of the ROM files (the ROMset). There's no shortcut to understanding. It takes time.
Also, keep in mind that the Raspberry Pi is an educational computer. It is designed to be tinkered with. That's part of the charm. Sure, it's also inexpensive, but support is community driven, and most of us have put in long hours of research and understanding to get working systems. For some of us, that includes a history with emulators that spans decades. This is the world you just wandered into. It's complex, extremely detailed, and at times very 'user unfriendly'. There is a lot of help to be found here, but it's not like downloading an app from the Apple store. This is a troubleshooter's delight, and almost everyone is running a slightly different combination of hardware. RetroPie gathers a lot of things together into one nice package, but it doesn't preclude the need to understand how it works.

Zip I am not a computer guy by far I had to have help from a friend just to get as far as I have nowAnd therein might lie a piece of your problem. Do you know what you have done, exactly, with the help of your friend?
If you do, please tell us*, because we need that info to be even able to help you.
If you do not, how do you expect us to help you?At this point, this question is akin to someone calling a garage and telling them the car won't start, can they please tell him how to fix it?
As an alternative, you start over, read the manuals, and follow the steps. That's what they are there for.
*: and with tell us, I mean every little detail, as even the things that might seem inconsequential to you, might make a big difference.

Without it, games will not launch as you have found out. But if you had read my link, you would have known this is needed.
where do I find neogeo. Zip
You must read the forum rules before you continue asking further questions as this is a breach of the rules. For legal reasons, you must not ask for links to roms. You agreed to read these pages when you signed up. I am still wondering what your question is from the title of your post!

@rbaker I put the neogeo games I downloaded in the neogeo folder on my phone stick that goes into the retropie then once it's done loading I put I go to neogeo click on the game the game goes to a screen if sometimes shows a yellow loading bar first for a minute and then goes to a black screen and then goes to back to the game list I have left the games that I have read and watch videos where they say take your neogeozip file put it in BIOS okay I've seen the file folder but I don't know how to get the BIOS and do I need a bio for each and every game or is there one bio that will run majority of the games if it's too much trouble forget this whole conversation I have read everything that I possibly can I understand it is a learning computer but there comes to a point where you ask for help if there's anything I missed in this paragraph let me know and I'll try to answer that one as well again I am sorry for asking 20001 time
-
@Corykrist1 I think you should Google neogeo.zip. And, whilst you're on Google, search for how to use punctuation. Your posts hurt me.
-
@caver01
I guess I should ask where do I find d bios for the neogeo roms I downloaded so I can put it in the bio folder... I'm hoping I asked the right question -
@Corykrist1 I don't know how to write Google again...
