Hi everyone, I recently bought a pi 3 and am trying to get this command style thing down. I am having trouble with the included scrapers never finding anything. I went on youtube and found this video:

now when i exit emulationstation and get to the prompt he says to type this in:

      http://github.com/sselph/scraper/releases/download/v0.7.5-beta.zip

I tried putting that in my browser pc and it didnt work (video is about a year old)

Instead, I went to the site and got this:

      http://github.com/sselph/scraper/archive/master.zip

      Ok, so that works.

To make this short, i got to the CD nes part and when I went to scraper it says something a long the line of scraper not found, I'm not near my pi right now so I can't test anything out but one thing I didn't try was typing the "scraper.go"

The scraper is on the pi because i see it via FTP , usr/local/bin/master-scraper/

      Thanks in advance.

The GamesDB is down has been for the last 5 days or so. You'll have to wait till there back up.

Ok cool, thanks alot. Now is it possible to download the images and transfer it to the pi? If so, where should I go?

So i did the same thing from Moco's original post:
              http://github.com/sselph/scraper/archive/master.zip

That worked and the download completed but then i continued follow the video keeping in mind that the zip file name has changed so i type in:
              sudo unzip master.zip scraper -d /use/local/bin/
I get a message 'caution: filename not matched: scraper. So then I type in:
              sudo unzip master.zip -d /use/local/bin/
This leaves out 'scraper' in the command line.

              I then go to:
              /RetroPie/roms/snes
When I am in there I try to run:
              scraper -thumb_only
              But I receive the message:
              -bash: scraper: command not found

Can you let me know what I am doing wrong here? I'm not too familiar with the command line and I'm sure its something really simple.
              Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I found that quitting emulation station takes you to the terminal. From there i entered:

                  cd RetroPie-Setup
                  sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

After doing that RetroPie_Setup will run (option 3) and was able to run sselph scraper (option 319). After doing a full scrape, I was getting errors. I notice that 'thegamesdb' is the default scraper. According to this thread that database is down (and has been for a few days) so I changed it to 'OpenVGDB'. I did a scrape for all systems and found some of my ROMS.

A question: Is 'thegamesdb' a larger, better resourced DB than 'OpenVGDB'?

@nc4080 yes thegamesdb is a little more extensive but their hosting situation right now isnt the greatest which is why we included alternate databases for these times when thegamesdb is down.

@herb_fargus OK, so at the moment is there only 'thegamesdb' and 'OpenVGDB' for the retropie project?

Are there other DB's or plans to add in other DB's in the future?

No there are not any plans currently unless something better becomes available and someone is willing to code it in.

@herb_fargus Is there any indication when 'thegamesdb' might be coming back online? Does it go down very often?

Every time I type in Sudo I get something like sudo does not exist. What am I doing wrong?

Are these hash not found errors because thegamedb is down?
