We need more info to help, plus have you read the wiki on how to setup controllers?

Retropie in a NES - Pi 3 with Mausberry circuit shutdown switch wired to buttons and 8bitdo NesPro30 controller
Retropie in a Saturn Controller - Pi Zero, GPIO controls using DB9 driver
        Retropie in a PSX - Pi3

I have read it. I had a lot of trouble with that one I followed this link ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bO5 ) and got the same results as the youtube video (which was great. Controller registered as i moved it around and all buttons worked.) but once I boot up emulation station. I can't seem to get a read on my wii controller. I feel like I'm on the right track but maybe just missing one step.

And I am also using an original wii controller

@mnewsome32 im not sure anyone has it working on the newer software. I used to have it working fine on a much older version. Tried to install and everything goes good. It recognizes the controllers and everything but when you try to set it up in emulationstation it doesnt recognize any button pushes. Others have had the same experience

Thanks for the help. I was mainly trying to turn the wii controller into a gun for games like area 51 and duck hunt does anyone know of any devices that will work.

@mnewsome32 Sorry to dig up an old grave but did you ever get your wiimote working with Duck hunt?
I've got mine working with AdvanceMAME gun games such as Alien3 - The Gun and Operation Wolf, but I can't seem to make it work with duck hunt.
