i having a little issue. im trying to have a running LED that will go out after shutdown. ive seen multiple people use pin 8 the TX gpio pin and ground however that is not working on mine. my LED is good, so i checked voltage at the pin and i get 0.1 volts? the RX pin is 3 volts but stays on after shutdown.
the main reason i want a running led or ACT led is the Pi3 will be in an enclosure where i cant see the board and want to kill power 100% once safe.

      thank you for any help

        any insight?

i have found that there are pads pp3 and pp13 that i can solder an led to and will flash with card activity but i kinda want it to be steady while running.

        thank you

@Badpewterz Yu might be able to get away with adding a capacitor in series with the LED on pp3 and pp13. I'm sot sure if added capacitance will mess with anything though, since I'm not sure what those pins are for.

that said, a capacitor will charge up and then discharge , smoothing out the blinks. Depending on how often the activity light blinks, it might smooth things out a bit.
