I'm at my wits end. I'm pretty new to raspberry and retropie. I've been Looking at videos and reading countless posts, searching websites etc. I can't seem to get it right. Everyone makes it look so simple, however when I go to do the same thing I don't get the same prompts or commands and get nothing but error messages or file doesn't exist messages. I have a couple of issues. I'm running rasp 3, retro 4. I downloaded retro onto sd card successfully. Emulation staton comes up like expected. It did not regonized my 360 controller so I just downloaded roms onto thumb drive and loaded them. Loaded as expected however forgot to Un zip some of them. I know where I messed up so Im trying to remove them all to put them on correctly. I've tried f4 but keep getting -bash no such file or directory. I tried going over wifi but I get find network with my laptop. Since I was stuck there I went back and tried to configure my controller. Found the xdrvr file to upload it and it say there is not enough room to install it. I have already started over once. Wondering if I need to again. Was hoping for better option. Sorry so long.
      Thanks in advance

There a few things that will help you on your way. First, whenever posting a support question, you must always follow the requirements that are noted here. Second, since you have quite a few issues affecting you, start with the most serious one first and work your way down with separate request threads afterwards. Otherwise, you're likely to overwhelm everyone out of the gate and limit the number of responses you get. Finally, always entitle your threads as descriptively as possible. This is not only good for forum housekeeping, but it will also help to draw in users who have specific knowledge on the subject.

Thanks for the heads up. Like I said fairly new to all this. I will try to do better. I think my first coarse of action would be to clear off all the roms currently on the pi.

Just as a suggestion, why not re-flash the SD card and start over? It doesn't sound like you are too far down the road. for the F4 key to not work to exit seems odd.

Have you tried the File Manager under RetroPie? Makes it super easy to navigate the structure. Then you can erase all files under the /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/(EMULATOR SPECIFIC DIRECTORY) but not the directories themselves. This will clear the roms and any save states.

You can also us RetroPie setup from the RetroPie menu to reset the controller config if there is a problem there.

File manager doesn't come up. Screen goes blank and then back to menu?

@Fastcat4 Format card, burn new image and start again from scratch. Follow the first install guide on the wiki and see how you get on. The info is all there, step by step.

You might have a bad SD card. Do you have another to test?

@Fastcat4 Emptied the SD card? Do you mean reformatted and reimage it? That's what I said you should do, but that's not clear.

Could be a bad SD card, but unless you follow the initial install instructions in the wiki correctly you won't know for sure.

I reformatted to 32. But I also deleted everything off of card. So did I delete the operating system off the sd card that came with pI

@Fastcat4 I don't know what you mean by reformatted to 32. Do you mean wiped the card and its a 32GB card?

Is it on the Raspberry Pi compatibility list? A quick Google of that term should confirm so.

It came with the raspberry pi. It has the logo on the sd card. I download retropie on it. Then because it was suggested to start over I formatted it to remove everything. Then reloaded the sd card. Re inserted it to rsp and now nothing shows on screen when it did before with same card

@Fastcat4 how have you written the image to the card? You can't just copy and paste it into the sd card. Please detail the steps you've uses to do this. I would suggest following the guide in the wiki.

@markyh444 I downloaded retropie to a file on my desktop. Then I copied it from that file to the SD card. That's how I did it the first without issue. That's why I think I erased exe file or start up command off the sd card.

@Fastcat4 No. That is not how you burn the image to the sd card. Please read the first installation section of the wiki and follow it. I've said to do this three times now.

If you did this then nothing will happen. When you say you did this without issue before, you didn't. Try to remember what you did and post after following the very clear step by step guide to image burning using Win32 disk imager.

@rbaker you both are right. I apologize. I used win 32 writer to put it on sd card. I backed tracked. And wrote it on the sd card and put it into pi and still no picture. But green light is blinking.

@Fastcat4 you still need to provide the information as requested in post 2! For example, what is the rating of your power supply?

@Fastcat4 Also a blinking green light means that the card cannot be read. So bad/fake card or a corrupt card or a write error when you burned the image. Bootleg cards often fail in this manner.

@rbaker I bought all of it as a kit . I have the right power supply. I have the right sd card. It was working before I took the suggestion to start over again. I just needed to take roms off . And now I don't have anything. This while project has been nothing but trouble. Sorry to vent and I appreciate the help. It's just frustrating.
