Was wondering if it was possible to have multiple ROM lists per emulator? I am interested in breaking out some top ROMs for the kids, best 2-player, best 4-player. Haven't been able to find any tutorials.

@swaggers unfortunately ROMs cannot be sorted by their metadata tags (i.e. number of players, year released, publisher etc.) at the moment. I have seen some discussion of this as a possible future addition though. Remember that RetroPie is a project which is run by enthusiasts as a hobby, it probably takes up a lot of their time just keeping things workable and stable.

@columboscoat Completely understand. Wasn't really looking for any kind of automatic way to do it. Although that would be great. Was ok if there was a manual way to create a separate list and have to do some editing and work myself.

@swaggers No problem. Maybe install "kids mode" from the experimental packages. This allows you to create a "favourites" list amongst other things. Maybe put them in there. Bear in mind that this is in the"experimental packages" for a reason. It has some bugs and issues. If you try this please backup prior to doing so.

I always wondered why RetroPie didn't have this. It's actually a good idea, kinda like a music playlist.

@PetroRie I think it's an Emulation Station thing. I guess it would be easy enough to add. Probably just a question of priorities. No point in sorting ROMs if you can't use them!

Or use folders. You can make folders in each rom folder and put roms in there if all you want to do is organize it that way

@lostless Do sub-folders work? I've never tried it. Any issues?

@columboscoat Subfolders do work. There is a bug in a recent version of EmulationStation that prevented metadata being saved on systems that contained subfolders, but that has been fixed in the latest revision.

@MWGemini Cheers. Might try it out on my MAME ROMs. Maybe group into years or genre.
