Excellent! I came hunting for more opinions on controllers. I picked up the Buffalo along with my Pi, because it was such a well-reviewed faithful replica, but I've since had an itch for that 8BitDo SNES30 Pro..

I have no complaints about the Buffalo: The buttons were slightly off out of the package but they feel great after a little mashing.

I own three of 8bitdo's controller. Nes30, Sfc30 and Nes30 Pro. If you are looking for wireless Nes/Snes controllers these are the best out there.

Which of the three do you use most frequently? I remember how those rectangular NES controllers cramped my child-sized hands. But the NES30 is nifty looking.

I use the SFC30/SNES30 the most. My Son uses the NES30 because it fits his hand better . And we both use the NES30 Pro for Arcade, PS1 & N64. I would say if your going for 8bit to 16bit era go for the SFC30/SNES30.

It is a good article indeed!

I've got a wired generic USB SNES pad which was terrible quality. I grabbed a genuine SNES pad from a forum member (another forum) and transferred the internals over. The shoulder buttons are a bit spongy as the internals were ever-so-slightly different, not really sure how to tackle that but it's great for SNES gaming as it feels genuine. Only issue is the USB length, but I can live with that.

I can vouch for the 8BitDo pad though. Updating the firmware was a bit unclear but managed to do it eventually, and it is a lovely pad, especially as it glows (be nice to mod it to stay on all the time).

I only have a couple of issues with it, one being the shoulder buttons-I'm not chubby-fingered by any stretch but my fingers do squash both 1 and 2 at the same time sometimes because of their proximity to eachother. Secondly, charging. I know the light glows yellow, but I've never seen it turn green for being fully charged, not have I seen it turn red when battery is low. I'm entirely sure if it should do that, but an indication that the battery is low would be great! Aside from those, great pad!

I'd like to get my hands on an 8Bitdo SNES pad now to compliment the NES30. Lovely pads that come really nicely presented/boxed too. They made an Apple edition on Kickstarter not that long back that I wish I'd seen, looked awesome but the project is now closed!

@edm203 I use an iBuffalo SNES or a wired Xbox 360, depending on the game. They are both excellent, responsive controllers. I much prefer wired controllers, they take a lot of the configuring and faff out of it. I like the look of the 8bitdo range but I have read about so many people having issues with them.
