What Key did I press?

I have one of those wireless media keyboard/touch pad combo controllers, and I want to keymap different buttons on the controller for when using EmulationStation and looking around. Problem is, I have no idea what some of the buttons are?!? Is there a program or code like
jstest /dev/input/js0does with the joysticks, either on the pi or I guess PC? -
@Dominus if you use it to set up a new controller in emulationstation when you press buttons in there it will tell you what the keys are
