Pixel Theme
-
@Rookervik I wish I had a more efficient way of utilising assets for different ES theme varyations. There are a bunch of themes and variations from you that get lost in the weeds perhaps I should set up a few more repos...
-
@herb_fargus Eh, everyone wants something different from a theme. I don't have too many. Luminous, Luminous Mini, Pixel, Pixel TFT, Pixel with Metadata... isn't that it? Really just 2 themes with a couple variations. And from what I know, only Pixel is available in the downloader isn't it? People can just get them on the forum.
-
@Rookervik Perhaps. well I may set up a few of them on github just so I don't lose track of them if that's cool with you.
-
@herb_fargus yeah, that's fine. I should probably think about setting up a site or something for my various customizations. Different themes, splash screens, movies, runcommand screens, kodi art, stuff like that.
But in case we're too far off topic, Pixel now has a meta data version. Check a couple posts above, or the main post at the top for a download link. Let me know if it's not lined up or something. And "not lined up" I mean really far off. Haha. Metadata is a B to align in ES.

Been a long time coming. I am sorry it took me forever. Pixel theme with metadata... instead of system art and information. I made the screenshot/boxart smaller and brought the bar up to make more room for metadata. All tags are included for all of you lovely OCD people. :P
Pixel-Metadata Edition: Download
Any plans to support emulationstation-kids?
Love you work and pixel is the theme i install everytime :)
-
@Rion Carbon has support for ES-kids but it didn't work from what I was told. The author of that version of ES never got back in touch with me so there's no way I know of to get it working. :(
-
@Rookervik: Pixel with metadata? Woo! This makes me happy!
@Rion: I created MetaPixel based on Rook's original Pixel theme because I liked it but wanted metadata. I also wanted something that worked with Zigurana's child-friendly ES, so I got that working too.
-
@mattrixk You'll have to give me a little insight with the child friendly. Zigurana said that Carbon's child-friendly icons weren't showing up even though I followed the instructions from his thread. But then he never got back in touch with me. So I'm in the dark. Especially not having child friendly available
-
@Rookervik I can have a bit of a play with the Pixel theme and let you know how I go. No guarantee on when though. We just back from holiday and the house is a mess, lots of washing to do etc. It will be while before I get some time to myself.
-
We are missing the European "Sega Mega-Cd Model 1 & 2" from Pixel theme. :)
And Sega-CD Model 2 with is the same as Sega Mega-Cd but with the name Sega-CD on top.
-
@Rion Man, sounds like you need to start drawing some pixel art! Let me know how it goes! :P
-
@Rookervik Ahh man.. I get back to you in a year 😉
-
@Rion Mega-CD added. There will be no model 2. Just as there won't be a Commodore 128, or a Turbo Express and others. :P
-
@Rookervik Thank you so much! 😀
-
@Rookervik what? No turbo express?? But i wanted to use a turbo express overlay with an lcd filter that displays the games in a tiny part of the screen. Now what am i gonna do? Play them full screen? Phhht!! :)
-
@herb_fargus Would you mind updating the theme in the repository to 1.93 and also add Pixel-meta to the repository?
-
@Rion update your setup script. All rooks themes now install from his repos
-
@Rookervik I loved your pixel and minilumi themes

And by the way why do you not release a minilumi and pixel splashscreens? you could release a static and a vídeo version of them and base the video ones in the carbon video splashscreens but the pixel one with a pixelated and colorfull RetroPie joystick and loading circle, for minilumi its background with a dark grey variant of the carbon's joystick and loading circle what do you think?
-
@sergioad Mm, because I didn't think anyone used any of the splashscreens I made. XD Just a couple of the static ones for games people might remember.
