Pixel Theme
-
@sergioad Ports section has no description to make room for information on each program. Similar to the RetroPie, System, and Pipplware systems. They are designed to have a gamelist and description meta data.

@rookervik Thank YOU! I've been a follower since the beginning!
-
@rookervik Ok
-
@rookervik awesome job with the update. There was a thread that i found on how to add scroll sounds to pixel and i did all the steps and scroll sounds do indeed work but breaks the theme in some way by altering backrounds and logos. Maybe you know of a way to add scroll sound to this new version?
-
Hi @Rookervik , huge fan of your theme! I have noticed an issue with your very latest update however, on previous versions the image (boxart) would fade and any video would play, but on this latest version the image isn't fading and the video is playing on top of the image - which you can often see behind it.
This happens with OMX player enabled or disabled.
-
@sonicsheppard As far as I recall I didn't have video previews working on previous versions. Perhaps you were using a modded version of the theme? I only have a couple of videos to test with so I will take a look at it and see. But as I didn't intend videos to be working in the past, I'm not sure how to get this to look like it "did" in your case.
-
@rookervik I think you're right! I do seem to rememeber trying a custom one that said it had video enabled a few weeks back just to see what it looked like. I obviously forgot all about it. Sorry about that.
-
@kneetie Mmm, let's see.
The code for enabling the sound is in the
pixel.xml
:<!--<scrollSound>./art/flipper.wav</scrollSound>-->
Change it to :
<scrollSound>./art/flipper.wav</scrollSound>
But you need to put a
flipper.wav
into theart
folder. Whatever sound you want to use. There is not a sound effect included with the theme right now. -
@rookervik thanks i went ahead and did it over again only on the first instance of that line of code i found and it worked!
-
@rookervik Man, IT IS AMAZING, for me Pixel + old carbon sounds + Pixel Retropie menu icons + Pixel splash screen + Pixel launching images is the way to go, just LOVE it and I can not stop to scream about that
-
@sergioad I have sort of made a complete package. Haha. I wanted my retropie looking retro. :D
-
@rookervik Are you going to also be updating pixel-metadata anytime soon? I like the updates but i needs muh metadatas!
I am glad you keep updating this theme, thank you! -
@madmodder123 Yeah I'm going to take a little break before I get on metadata. Tho it shouldn't be hard. Hopefully I will just need to edit the pixel.xml for meta data version. We'll see. But I want a small break. Took me 6 hours on Sunday to do all the xmls. Such a drag. Haha.
-
@rookervik Indeed, retro is the way to go my friend :) enjoying it
-
Hello @Rookervik !
I'm working on fun facts splashscreens and I was using your theme as an example and while trying to parsepixel.xml
withxmlstarlet
I kept getting and error telling me that that xml was malformed.
Looking into it, I found a couple of comments that have one extra dash-
, these ones:<!--- This will enable Player Count under the screenshot ---> <!---<pos>0.686 0.573</pos>--->
and
<!--- This will enable Player Count under the screenshot.---> <!---<pos>0.830 0.567</pos>--->
I removed them and now it's working! :D
Just wanted to let you know, because it might affect other projects usingxmlstarlet
to parse themes. -
@hiulit I think Rook is aware of it:

:D
EDIT: also https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/60107
-
@meleu @Rookervik whoops, sorry! Should have checked for issues in the repo before :P
-
@hiulit Yeah I'm aware and I haven't updated the theme on purpose. LOL. Tho if I ever intend to use meleu's awesome splashscreen maker, I might fix it. But the reason I didn't fix it is exactly because of the splash screen maker :D Hahaha
-
@rookervik Why wouldn't you want @meleu 's splashscreen maker to use your theme? :O
-
@hiulit Have you ever heard of the Luddite movement? :D
