turrican... vice emulator ... cant load into game..

hey guys... im on vice... want to play turrican.... it loads, i press space bar.... then it loads again... then it comes to the main turrican screen and i press space again but it does nothing it wont load into that game
i cant get passed that turrican screen -

tape version ? Disk version ? perhaps it just takes time to load, or get a different version of it.

@messyraverbaby you probably need to press escape at that screen.

it just wont let me load into the game... ive hit every single key on the key board... it just makes no sense that the space bar works to go past the first ;loading screen but then doesnt let me past that on the main turrican screen
and ive apdated all packages setup scripts -
@messyraverbaby get another version of turrican as I mentioned. What is the filename of the one you are loading ?

ok... just got the list of acceptable file extensions... gonna get all versions i can and see if i get any luck... back in a mo

they work zipped right.... unzipped file i was using d64 and thats the one i was using

no... they are all doing the same thing get to that second loading screen then wont let me load into it.... says press fire to continue and pressing fire doesnt do anything -
@messyraverbaby did you press fire on joystick - probably a mapping issue - check settings and make sure you have a working joypad (or keyboard mapped to joystick)

ive found a version that works... but the other versions have started working i really dnt know why this was happening. but thankyou sooo much for your replys

@messyraverbaby exactly what @buzz said. You have to press fire on joystick. I have both joysticks programmed to the same controller but i did seperate fire buttons (allows you to play two button games properly) but i had to go into machine settings-->joystick settings-->swap joysticks. You can also put the swap joystick to a button but i forgot where i found that setting
