Use usb - automount and loading splashscreens from sd-card possible?
-
Hi,
I'm having trouble with (video-) splashscreens on the latest retropie 4.1 using the easy automount option.
Automount usually works very reliable and I don't have any issues loading roms or anything else, but about 1/3 of the time the USB stick initialization fails before showing the splashscreen, so my video does not play.Error message is:
[FAILED] failed to start usbmount@dev-sda.service
See 'Systemct1 status usbmount@dev-sda.service' for detailsI would guess the usb device does not always initialize fast enough to be used. The stick is a SanDisk Ultra Flair 64GB usb 3.0.
Can I store the splashscreen on the SD-card to prevent this from happening? I know it's a only small annoyance, but I'm crazy perfectionistic about this stuff.
Thanks!

@Capt_MorganCreek Yes, if using a custom splashscreen and using automount you should place it elsewhere. Just copy it to /home/pi or somewhere and adjust
/etc/splashscreen.list
to the new location. (you can manually edit this from the splashscreen configuration menu) -
I had the same problem and in the end I've put my video into /opt/supplementary/splashscreen/
It's the same folder the pre installed Splashscreens are in and so far it works fine. It's easy to set up from the configscreen afterwards. -
Thanks guys!
This is exactly what I was looking for :)

Hmm. I followed your advice and copied the video-splashscreen over to /home/pi/splashscreens and changed the line in /etc/splashscreen.list accordingly. Strangely this doesn't work, the splashscreens never appears.
I even double- and triple-checked the paths and tried different folders, but the splashscreen won't show up.
Edit:
Just got it to work. After copying it over to /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen/ to the default splashscreens and selecting it it works like a charm!
