Oldroom theme W.I.P. new 1.9 Beta + media packs
-
Does anyone else has problems downloading image folders? It's super slow and always fails after 99% completion... In particular the gamegear and megadrive image folder. Tried it on different machines, at work and home, same issue. Maybe you reached the limit of your monthly mega.nz free account traffic.
EDIT: I fixed it by downloading the official mega firefox addon, weird eh? -
@donkeykong I don't know where are you downloading the files, but I didn't upload any megadrive folder for the theme yet.

Thanks for linking this progressive thread for me to follow... Can I ask a quick newb question? Does this completely remove the need for me to scrape? It looks like you're doing all the work and all I would have to do is download the bits for my particular setup and install it to match the same folder structure. Is this correct? How do you plan to accomodate people who are using GoodName sets instead of NoIntro? I'm using NoIntro, but my roms are somewhat modified from that because I built a fresh set in ClrMAMEpro to remove any duplicates. So now I just have 1 game 1 rom type setup, and things that are only available outside of USA are selected in priority from Europe, Austrailia, Japan, etc, in an attempt to get everything in English. I also have a few modified roms that have been translated, or hacked to provide alternate games (like the new Metroid Rogue Dawn game).
I guess what I'm getting at, is if the need to scrape is gone, how does somebody ADD missing artwork and metadata?
-
no idea if this has already been mentioned but I cant be bothered to read through all the comments. On the dreamcast image, you show box art for a megaman game. There was no offical megaman game on the dreamcast (sorry if im being picky). Really like the theme tho, Im guessing it can only have 10 systems before you get the white screen of death?
-
@trixta You won't have that problem if you "update from source" the latest version of Emulation Station. @fieldofcows had been working on a fix that I can now confirm (at least on my system) that it's working beautifully. I have 31 systems installed right now!
-
@hansolo77 Usually everybody have nointro romsets, so I made art with nointro names to fit with romset from the people.
Anyway, if you have nointro romsets you can also use my gamelist.xml if you want, or if you don't have your games scraped, but then you need to respect the paths for folders, or use a text editor to do a search and replace the paths.
If you have other romsets or filenames, then you need to use program like fatmatch to match the name of images and / or videos with your rom names and use your own gamelist with scraped metadata.
But all of this it's well explained on first post...
I'm scraping full romsets so if something it's missing it's because doesn't exist, anyway i'm taking some time building missing art not found on screenscraper or gamedatabase ( for example neo geo pocket).
@trixta like @hansolo77 told you, that problem it's fixed. If you read the credits, system art it's not mine, it's from litzoid (expet the one I created for atari lynx), I didn't pay attention to megaman but after a quick search on google it's a homebrew game for dreamcast named Mega man war of the past.

@Nismo Looking great!
-
Great work, thanks for that. Is there still a PSP (Playstation Portable) and NDS (Nintendo DS) section?
-
@Cybermen Not yet, i'm still working on the theme.
-
perfect ;-)
-
@Nismo Planning to upload snes snaps also?
Thanks for the snaps much appreciated!!
-
@Kischa of course.
-
hohommx over at the libretro forums has created Indoor overlays that reminds me of you oldroom theme.
Looks really nice.
-
@Nismo King! 😉
-
@Nismo Any plans to add the C64 and ColecoVision to the theme?
-
This post is deleted! -
Nismo,
Just wanted to say thank you for this amazing theme. I've been using Launchbox and Hyperspin and never been happy with the stability of either. Loved RetroPie but it naturally wasn't as pretty. This theme makes it on par with them along with the videos and now it doesn't randomly screw up when I enter or exit games!
One quick question, do you have the themes without the generic blank boxes in the background? I only ask as I've tweaked the sizes and positions on some of your themes but that means the blank boxes show up behind it still. I'd love to not have those back there if at all possible.
Keep up the great work!

@Hubz Where did you place the boxes? I can upload some of them but I need to spend one evening to do that enabling and disabling layers, posters and so... and of course without optimizing filesize...
-
@Nismo Usually not far from the initial spot, mainly moved them around since I wanted to make the boxes a bit bigger on my setup. On some Super Famicom boxes I had they are vertical as opposed to horizontal, so the blank horizontal box sticks out.
-
@Hubz That's because you need to wait for SNES media to be uploaded...
