Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes

I'm on a Pi0 running 4.1.16 with no Logo Art.
The weird thing is though, the older version of your NesMini theme works like a charm...
I don't know enough about the coding language ES uses to dig into the code... but this may push me over the edge to kickstart my journey :)

I'm looking into it now. I've updated to the latest version retropie and the logos are missing here as well. However they work on the famicom-mini theme. Something must have changed in ES as they both worked in retropie 4.1 but I'm not sure why one works and one doesn't on the new version. I'm going to check through my theme.xml files and will try to narrow down what's different about the famicom-mini theme that allows it to work correctly.

WHOA I absolutely have to try this out!! Is this theme in the github repository? I feel like it should be, so it's easier to update and keep track of. You did an amazing job, ruckage. I'll closely follow this project!
Edit: small requests :3

Hey @ruckage good job!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I think I've fixed the issue with the missing logos in the new version of retropie.
In the theme I was 'hiding' the logos on the gamelist screen by giving them a size of 0. Not sure why it would affect the system select as I wasn't modifying the size in that section of the theme and it clearly worked fine in the old version of retropie. My fix is simply to physically move them off the screen instead of setting the size to 0 which seems to work.
Give me a little while to update the theme with the fix and I'll upload a new version.

I've just applied the fix to all systems and it seems to work perfectly. I'm just going to have a look at the fonts now and see if I can fix them so they display the characters that are currently missing.
-
@ruckage You are a saint.

Good news and bad news regarding fonts. Good news is I've added the accent characters. Bad news is they break the game list as they are then taller than the other characters and it seems that ES uses variable line height per entry so any name with these character is taller and it then stops everything else in the list from lining up correctly.
Characters such as º though are fine so can be added.
The only thing I can think to do is to replace accent characters in the font such as é with a standard e. Would this be an acceptable compromise?
Let me know.

Awesome! You're an artist! Congrats, captain!

I've uploaded new versions to try.
-
I've fixed the logos not showing for the nes-mini theme on latest Retropie.
-
I've edited the gamelist fonts so that special characters are included - accented characters are replaced with equivalent standard character as they broke the gamelist.
-
I've edited the description font so that the missing alternative apostrophe character is now included.

Well done @ruckage !
Just curious, did you create the font from scratch?
There are fonts like Press Start 2P font or the Game Over font which include those special characters.Thanks.
No, I didn't create it from scratch but it came from bitfontmaker2 which is an online bitmap font designer. It just happened that the fonts I chose for the description had the apostrophe missing so I added it myself.
I found another version of the gamelist font on bitmaker with the missing characters but I still had to edit it to make sure all characters were the same height and also moved below what the normal baseline would be as there seems to be a bug in ES where altering the line spacing makes the selector bar no longer line up with the text so this was the only way I had to correct it.

@ruckage IT WORKS!
Thanks dude!!!

@ruckage
I am sure you have your hands full at the moment with all the requested systems and the Newgen theme ;-)
But if I may add one more to the list, Super Famicom would be one I would love to see.
Thanks.btw. running your theme on a Pi Zero connected to a 42" Full HD TV and all looks good here.

New to this group, I saw this theme and it is great ! Lot of hard work put in to this. Is there any updated one that will support most system. Or at least FBA, MAME and PSX?

Just to reply to this, I find this 100% acceptable. Accents are not worth the trouble, especially if all letters are capitalized (in French, at least, accents are optional on capital letters for that very reason!)

Nice to hear it's working well on the zero. I'll add Super Famicom to the list - nice and easy as it will be the same as the Super Nintendo with just a slightly different logo.

Hi and welcome. I released a new version only yesterday but the systems you've listed aren't added yet - give me a little time and I will do my best to get all requested systems added.

Thanks for that - I had no idea accents were optional for capitals, it's good hear my compromise isn't much of an issue.

where can I download it?

@ruckage hey man, just out of curiousity did you create or document the build on your cardboard mini? I know the thread kinda went towards your theme (which kicks ass by the way) but I really dig your case.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
