@ruckage
I'd like to see pc-engine cd. -
Why is steam needed? Genuinely curious.
You can stream games from your powerful PC to your Raspberry Pi using Moonlight-embedded. I use it all the time:
Here's Carbon theme's Steam directory:

Cool, didn't realise that.
I have to ask though - why does it need it's own category? Surely it's a single app you launch which then takes you to steam big picture. So you have an entire category which contains one item - seems a bit redundant. Actually same can be said for KODI as well. Why do these apps need their own section in retropie - wouldn't they be better all together in an 'Apps' folder?

It does depend on how you configure it. You can just have one entry that launches Steam in Big Picture Mode and you can have more entries that launch a specific game. An example: I have Big Picture Mode using 720p60fps and a 2nd entry for 1080p30fps and I also have a custom entry for Ghost Recon Wildlands (which isn't even in Steam...it's Uplay) briefly described here:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/63708Moonlight is mainly used to play Steam games but there are Nvidia GeForce Experience optimized games that may or may not be on Steam (like Wildlands). Here's a tread talking about making custom launch scripts for Moonlight:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/57654 -
So really the system name should say "Nvidia GeForce Experience" or "Moonlight" but I'm okay with the simple "Steam" lol
-
Also I didn't mention that people running the Linux x86 build with RetroPie can install Steam locally on the same machine and then they can make scripts to launch games using Steam's built in "steam://rungameid/" function. These scripts can be stored in the
~RetroPie/roms/steam/
folder as well. -

Hello! ETA Prime brought me here I tried installing this theme via his instructions. Which i used winSCP to go inmy retropie backend, I placed the nes mini theme in my emulationstation/themes folder. I went back into my Retropie i saw Nes Mini theme was there i selected it but when I cruise the theme its just blank white background/black text. i scrolled through my emulators and it was like this for all of them while using this theme. Can you provide any help on getting this running?

Have you made sure when you extracted the zip that you only copied over the theme folder itself? It could be when you extracted the theme it extracted to a folder within a folder if that makes sense.
The base folder should be called 'es-theme-nes-mini-master' and inside that should be lots of folders for all the systems.
If you open 'es-theme-nes-mini-master' folder and inside is another 'es-theme-nes-mini-master' folder that's wrong and won't work.
Not sure if I'm being very clear but I hope it helps.

@Vega
Sometimes you have to restart EmulationStation before the theme will work. -
@ruckage as others I was made aware of your theme by ETA prime's youtube video and I really like it!
I wanted to ask if it was OK to include it in my project. I make a compilation of LE+Lakka+ES (and other stuff I add) for Amlogic s905 devices and I would like it to be the default ES theme if its OK with you.
it is of course non-commercial, here is the link to the project https://github.com/shantigilbert/LibreELEC.tv
Thank you!

As long as it's not for commercial use and I'm credited somewhere and it's not modified in any way then that will be fine. Please make sure the readme which includes my license terms and link to this forum is also included.
Thanks for asking before using the theme, I appreciate it.

Daphne?
Doh!
That was actually on the list, I must have deleted it by accident. I'll re-add it.
I've actually updated the first post in the topic with useful theme information such as todo lists and downloads so it's easy to find now.
-
@ruckage Thank you!
Yes it is non-commercial and will always be like that.
Is it OK if give credit on the release notes?
-
Thought I'd show the progress being made for the next version. I have some bugfixes I'd like to make before releasing it but in the meantime here's a GIF showing the new systems (Virtual boy, Ports, Atari Lynx, SG-1000, and PSP).
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
