I actually made a post when I first registered on this new forum to any news update of your lmage Preview Project
Looks like Universal XML Scraper have alot of options when it comes to something similar what your where doing lmage Preview Project.
Sad to hear you was ill for most of last year.
I know exactly how it feels. Been under the knife now for the second time in 5 months but I'm soon back to work again.I don't think @FlyingTomahawk ment any disrespect by doing a version based on your theme.
UXS looks far more advanced than the program I wrote to make the previews (it certainly would have been almost impossible for anyone else to use as it required lots of user intervention to work so wasn't worth sharing).
Yeah it sucks being ill, I hope you feel better soon. I've had some health problems for quite a few years but it was under control until the past year or so when things got bad again. I'm feeling well at the moment though so I'm making the most of it (just as well really as the hospital sure knows how to keep me waiting).
No ill feelings toward @FlyingTomahawk, I was just initially miffed as It didn't seem that Newgen was acknowledged as the inspiration for his theme.

@ruckage what caused you to be ill? if you don't mind me asking
-
Glad to see that you're back again.
I would like to say a few words since we have a situation here that I would like to clear and add a few missing pieces.
When I first joined this forum (3 months ago) I was looking for a different theme than what was available at that time so during my search I stumbled across this old petrockblock.com thread with the NewGen theme screenshots.
As many others I was VERY amazed by its looks, design and layout so I looked you up and saw that you haven't been online for quite a while. Your last post didn't indicate that the NewGen theme will be released anytime soon.
So I thought I use this opportunity and create a theme that is based on that NewGen layout and at the same time learn about this whole RetroPie and ES stuff as I go.However, do to lack of skills I was not able to recreate it near as good as the original but it was good enough for me to use personally and since others had admired your theme I thought why not share mine as some sort of replacement until the real NewGen theme will be released one day....or not.
No one knew if you ever come back and it would have been a shame to not be able to use such a cool design. So great Job SEGA for creating the design in the first place and bravo to you for converting it to a very nice looking ES theme. As you could read in the readme file I did give credit to you and I did mention "your" theme by name.
I tell you what, you release that NewGen theme of yours and I will remove all the Futura theme files from github and this forum. I don't really care if my Futura theme is available to others or not the initial goal was to use it only for myself anyways.took the dead Newgen theme and made the Futura Theme in your absence.
There was nothing to "take" per se, except inspiration.
edit: I take it back, he does mention me in the readme. However I still feel my original version is worth releasing - if only for the wide colour choice I have available.
Absolutely, couldn't agree more. Release it, please.

There is no need to remove anything, we all build upon what others have made and choice is good for everyone. Newgen itself was inspired by the menus used on the PS2 genesis collection so I borrowed ideas myself to begin with.

Good question - I'd like to know that myself ;)
It's basically a whole host of gastric problems. itstarted with really severe acid reflux years ago, I was given medication which suppresses acid production and that helped for a while. Then one out of the blue I found it difficult to swallow food and any food I ate seemed to remain in my stomach much longer than it should so I felt sick all the time so they game me another drug which again helped for about 3 years.Fast forward to about 1 1/2 years ago and all my symptoms and more came back with a vengeance- nothing helped, couldn't sleep could only eat small amounts and felt sick all the time. I've had loads of tests but no conclusive cause for all the symptoms - the only major finds so far are confirmed acid reflux and hiatal hernia (knew I had those anyway) and that my esophagus doesn't work so when eating and drinking food isn't pushed down as it should be - it pretty much drops down by gravity alone.
Luckily I seem to get periods where I feel normal again, like now, fingers crossed I won't feel ill again for quite a while.Sorry for the wall of text, that was probably more info than you wanted :P

@ruckage Damn dude, hope you get better.

@ruckage This is simply amazing. Can I make a request for GBA & Genesis?
-
Wow me like alot!!!
Would it be rude to make a request for snes, neogeo and maby psp? 😊

Hi Ruckage,
Hope you don't mind but i made a version for the Japanese Famicom Mini using your template & the original Famicom Mini Menu.
Feel free to tweak & add it into your next release :)
Stuart.

Looks really nice. I wonder if it would be better as an alternative for the whole theme though - so there would be two themes, a nesmini theme and a fammini theme?
Edit: By the way, working on adding SNES, GBA, Megadrive/Genesis and Neo Geo at the moment. I also need to edit pc engine/TG16 as I forgot to adjust the boxart dimensions in the XML.

i have the NES Mini / Famicom Mini attract sequence loop mp3 if your interested incorporating that into the theme?
-
@Stuart2773 Would love that. I was going to hack it into mine if it couldn't be part of the theme.

Yeah, I have that MP3 actually playing on mine (great tune). You can't add it to a theme though, you have to setup an mp3 player and add a few lines to some scripts to make it play on startup and stop when games start etc.
I found the tutorial for doing that on here somewhere - I'll see if I can find it and post a link.
-
Here's the tutorial for adding background music. Follow from the post made by Synack as it's easier than the method originally posted (the link should be roughly the right place in the thread).
Add Background music to retropie
By the way I actually found a famitracker version of that music (I can't remember who wrote it now) so you can export it to any length you like.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
