Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes

@ruckage I'm one for simple ordinarily, so like clear and concise/space so when I saw this, although I thought it looked really cool, I passed on it.... Until this evening. I've installed and I love it. I think it looks so much better in the flesh than it does on the forum: the videos and screengrabs don't do it justice.
Admittedly, I have just skim read through the 585 posts, but currently can't see any mention of development for the Amiga? I know this is a 'spare' time hobby, but wondered if there's any plan to introduce it in the future?
I'm always amazed and what people do for Retropie, wish I had the time to contribute something like this, it's awesome...

@Danorak1981
Thanks, glad you like it.
Amiga is on the to do list so will be added at some point in the future. -
As others have mentioned I would totally use this but it's missing the 1 system I need, the Sega 32X!
I'm building a NES mini replica system with all the retro consoles and everything is there minus the 32X.
Outstanding work by the way, I thought I would never stray from Tronky Fran but I love the style of yours and it's much more fitting!!
-
There is a to do list in the first post of this thread and 32x is one of the systems on that list, it will be done but I can't say when as themes take a great deal of time to make and its all done in my spare time.
-
@ruckage Oh man I can't wait! Now you got me on the edge of my seat for the 32x so I can use the theme and finalize my build!
I registered here to comment on your theme and I will be using it hopefully sooner than later!
Thank you again!
-
@ruckage I hear you, they take so much time!

Since we were discussing systems I was curious if there are any plans for the North American model of the Super Nintendo?
I only recently am getting into my retropie so I'm not sure if that console is even possible to change the theme like the genesis or TG16?
Or since it's the same name it's as easy as a image change?
-
@prophecy the NA model of the Super Nintendo IS the Super Nintendo. In Japan it was called the Super Famicom. If you see "Super Nintendo" that's the NA version.
-
@cafarellidigital I'm guessing @prophecy means the SNES icon that is used on the main menu.

Not entirely true, it was called the Super Nintendo in many other places but using the proper design rather than the purple and grey monstrosity that NA got ;)
As I'm from the UK I went for the design I remembered, I will however be making an alternative icon so everyone is happy :). -
@ruckage
I'm owned that purple monstrosity, I feel we got shafted. Everywhere else had the nice looking snes where we had the purple tank.Its cool that you are adding it though.
I'm not sure if it's been requested but could we get pc-engine cd. I know that the 32x has been requested.

Out of curiosity, if we want to downgrade the theme back to the original carousel, or download the older versions of this theme, how could we go about doing that? Thank you for this amazing theme, btw. My family and I absolutely love it!
I was wondering the same thing.
I'm presuming you can retrieve older versions of the theme using github. However, you'd then lose out on bigfixes and other enhancements.
I really like the new theme, but I also like the old one (which I'm currently using) and it would be a shame if it were to fade away.
It would therefore be nice if both versions of the theme could be supported simultaneously, or instructions provided on how to "downgrade" the theme. Would that be possible?

No worries, I'm sure if you grew up with it you're just as fond of it as we are of the SNES we had. There were some strange choices when it came to console releases in the USA though, the other one that I think is strange is the PC Engine/TG16 (sadly never really released in the UK). The original is a really cute little console and the US got a much bigger and arguably uglier console.
-
@ruckage
I meant we got shafted because we got the purple console, lol.I like the sleek snes that everyone else got.
So what's on the to-do list besides the 32x and purple NA snes?

The only difference visually is the carousel. On older versions of Emulationsation it will still display the old carousel style.
Unfortunately there is no really easy way to downgrade it, in an ideal world I would offer a way to choose between the 2 carousel styles but unfortunately there is no way that it can be done.
I will not be maintaining multiple versions as that could become a real headache and I feel the new version is superior. If once the theme is complete and there is enough call for it then I will consider releasing an alternate version with the old carousel.

Yeah, I know what you meant, I perhaps should have worded my answer better:
"I'm sure if you grew up with the purple monstrosity you're just as fond of it as we are of the sleek and sophisticated SNES we had.." :D.
I have a to do list in the first post but I'll paste here as it may result in requests for systems I may have missed.
Below is the current todo list:
Amiga
Amstrad CPC
Atari ST
DosBox
Dreamcast
Game & watch
Kodi
MSX
pc-engine cd
ScummVM
Sega 32x
Steam
SupergrafxCreate a 4x3 version of the theme

@ruckage
Sorry, I haven't seen the top of this thread in weeks I always come here via the notifications, it seems like your to-do covers the systems I'm missing. -
@ruckage
I think my only request isn't a system request it's more of a request for the theme.Also it isn't an immediate thing, it's something that would ideally be started when the system requests are done.
I'd love to see instead of the nes system border, all of the systems have there own border (snes=snes, genesis=genesis).
I'm fairly sure I've discussed this with you before earlier on in the thread though.

That's a shame. But I understand your reasoning.
I wonder whether there might be a configuration parameter in Emulation Station that forces it to behave like the earlier version (i.e. ignore the new carousel styles).
-
Yes I meant the Super Nintendo icon on the carousel. I know the current icon is the non-NA model.
Because yes I also grew up with that purple monstrosity and loved every second of it so I figured I'd ask since it would complete my perfect build (plus satisfy everyone in North America).
I think releasing the North America Super Nintendo could be as easy as just replacing the image file right?
On a side note I noticed lots of themes I've tested have the Super Nintendo NA model. Some even using the PC engine even if you change the platform to TG16 which is odd because the pc engine was Japan only while the TG16 was NA and Europe - yet they use the NA Super Nintendo model which was NA only..... whaaaaatever
