@Hex
This theme has custom help Icons built into the background. You are absolutely correct though that the actual help icons are hardcoded in ES.

Hi, as latests versions of ES have the possibility to press X button to select a random game, could you add that button to the bottom area of the theme where other buttons appears
MSX is already on the to do list but I will add MSX2 as well.

Hi @ruckage I leave this link: https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/7638/retropie-theme-port-posibility-cardboard-mini-nes-nes-mini-and-famicom-mini-themes/25
A fellow from the recalbox @ João-Nuno-Cravinho forum has partially ported the theme to recalbox, but it is an older version to the new design in carrousel
Check it out and tell us what you think, I have also left a message in the recalbox forum.
As you can see, they have not taken long to port, the theme has a lot of acceptance.I would like you to contact @ João-Nuno-Cravinho to polish details, he has offered to finish the job if you give him your permission.
Anything you need will contact me.
Thanks @ruckage

Interesting post on both forums but I disagree with this request and the thought process behind it. Keep up the good work on your theme @ruckage
-
@TMNTturtlguy why? Explain to me that it is wrong, the proposal was made at the time and the author expressed the interest to port the theme, what has done the user of the forum of recalbox is personal title has not yet published anything
-
@nj180grados out of respect to @ruckage i request that we don't pollute his thread with this discussion and let him keep the posts about his theme. No one has done anything wrong here, I simply disagree that users are requesting that @ruckage or other theme makers or coders dedicate more of their personal time on things like this. If at @ruckage wants someone to help him port his theme that is his choice and he should do that to his liking. @nj180grados you have been very kind in your posts, however I personally don't like that you are trying to "broker" a deal to have someone port @ruckages work and then ask @ruckage to spend time in helping this happen. Again, let's keep this thread on topic of the great theme. I will not reply again on this topic in this thread, feel free to start a new post for further conversations. Thanks

While I appreciate the enthusiasm for my theme I've made it quite clear that I would port the theme myself once I've completed all or most of the systems, I feel this is more than fair. My license terms with the theme are also very clear:
License
This theme is being actively developed, a great deal of work has been put into the theme and art so please do not use the graphics I have created in other projects (with the exception of any graphics that are an exact copy of of those from the real 'NES classic'/'Famicom mini' menu).
You are free to modify the theme for your personal use only - please do not share modified versions of this theme.
Commercial distribution is prohibited
You just need to be patient, I have literally put months of work into this drawing everything myself and do not want it to be fragmented, I have a clear idea of how I want each system to look and so wish to work on it alone. I'm sorry but I do not give permission for @ João-Nuno-Cravinho to release this. I hope you understand my reasons and will respect my wishes.
-
@ruckage there is no problem we will wait patiently for this all finished. The reason for the post was to provide you with help since I have considered interesting the fact that the user @ João-Nuno-Cravinho has made his own version of the theme.
We respect your work and we will wait for you to finish it all.
Thank you.
-
@TMNTturtlguy I understand perfectly, in any case there is no bad intention and respect all the work of the author. The first intention was to help the author, but as he himself has stated, we will respect his work and wait patiently for it to be finished. In short, nothing more to add. See you around. Thanks.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been having a bit of a break to work on something else.
There have been some changes made to EmulationStation as of today that fixes and improves several elements of the gamelist, however I'm expecting it to break my theme so if you update ES via source expect some problems. I will be working to fix the theme for the new version of ES so will have an update soon. Big thanks to @jdrassa for making the improvements, they really are great.

@ruckage UXS is the Universal XML Scraper. It scrapes the metadata from screenscraper.fr. One of the best things about it is you can create your own scrape profiles so you can scrape whatever images you want (box art, fan art, game logos, screenshots, etc) and mix them into a single image.
How do you choose your own images for the scraped games?
-
@SonPluck You can create Mix Profiles that let you place the different types of image however you want.
They have tutorials on the github wiki page that teach you how to do it, or you can check out the ones I made for the ES Toolkit for inspiration.
(You don't choose specific images to use, but you do choose the type of image, and where to place it eg: put the logo in the bottom-right, the 3d boxart in the bottom-left and screenshot in the middle.)

I just registered to thank the author for his incredible work. Thank you very much!
PS. Are there plans to add MS-DOS (DOSBox) and Mega Drive 32X?
-
@bantxi Both are listed in the to-do section of the first post.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a message. As @LiveFastCyYoung said both of those are on the to do list which you can find in the first post. I'm having a little break from this at the moment as I'm working on something else but will be going back to it soon to get the remaining systems added.

@ruckage Downloaded Mini Nes theme thru Retropie Setup, and I'm not getting the carousel update. Any help?
-
@SonPluck
When was the last time you did an update to ES?
Because it sounds like you need to update. -
-
@Syhles How do you I update emulation station?
EDIT: I'm using retropie 4.0.2, isn't that newest version?
-
@SonPluck Press start and quit emulationstation. At the prompt, type...
sudo ./RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
Go to "Update RetroPie-Setup script". Let that run.
Go to "Manage packages" -> "Manage core packages" -> "emulationstation" -> "update from binary"
This will update your emulationstation.
Go back to the main menu and perform reboot.
