I am wondering if there is a way to make a theme, namely carbon, stop seeing video files in the gamelist. I would like to have both Carbon and ES_CRT with video as options for themes. When I have a video line in the gamelist, Carbon will turn white for that system. My current solution is 2 games list, one with a video line and one without. This means i can't just switch themes on the fly, i have to delete the gameslist and upload the revised list each time. Any ideas?

@TMNTturtlguy You could write a script that renamed the files. Or wait until Carbon gets video previews.

I asked the same question in the video preview thread and got no answer. I wish that either there was an option in ES to use/don't use videos or that it depends on the theme, no matter which tags are in the gamelists.

This has been bothering me the last couple days so I decided to fix it. I just submitted a pull request for a change that will check if the current theme supports video. If it doesn't it will use the detail view even if videos are present. I can't guarantee that they will accept it, but we will see.

@EctoOne I agree. I was hoping someone had found a way to write an ignore text to tell carbon to ignore any <video> line in the gameslist.

My fix for this has been accepted. If you update EmulationStation using RetroPie-Setup you should get the fix.

So now I can use an xml with filled video and marquee tags on a theme that doesn't have video view? Awesome, but I think I'll wait until carousel is accepted as well before I go back to the official ES build

@EctoOne Correct. Once you upgrade, if you are using a theme that doesn't support video, it should use the detailed view instead. Hopefully the carousel changes will land soon.
