"emulationstation" is not working
-
Hello Retropie Supporter
I installed everythink to start Retropie but if i ^type in "emulationstation" it says: "X is running. Please shut down X in order to mitigrade problems with losing Keyboard input. For example, logout from LXDE.
please help me solve this problem!
thanks -
@MrMasterGenius You need to log out of the desktop. RetroPie will not run if X ( desktop) is running. You cannot launch RetroPie from the Terminal within the desktop. Use the menu > shutdown > exit to command line.

I did, but it was the same problem.
i was in the desctop an made ctrl+alt+f4, then logged in an typed again"emulationstation" it sayd the same. -
@MrMasterGenius Log Out of the desktop. Go into the menu and click
Log Out
or alternatively enterpkill x
into the terminal. This will kill the x process, ie end the desktop session. Ctrl+Alt+F4 is not ending the desktop session. It just opens a console session in front ot it. -
but then it forces me to log back in...
-
@MrMasterGenius Set your system to boot automatically to Emulation Station or to CLI with no login.
-
how?
-
@MrMasterGenius using this. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/raspi-config.md Choose console / cli auto login.

Finally got it... thanks Alex :)
it actually was really easy -
@MrMasterGenius It's always easy once you know how!
