Dualboot with Kodi
-
Hi,
I'm running this build now: http://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/retropie-multi-boot-images/
but want the latest versions, upgrading seems not possible. Is there a new image of this? retropi and kodi dualboot?
I've test the retropi image and installed kodi, but when i'm in kode i can't shutdown, only exit and shutdown from retropie/emulationstation.
Mainly i use kodi and emulationstation less. so i want to boot kodi by default and shut is down from there.Any ideas?
Thanks

You do not need to duelboot anymore. You can just launch kodi from the Ports section after you install it via the RetroPie Config menu. I think its under optional packages.

@arjanv I use one of the dual-boot images from MultiBoot Pi. They have a script that lets you swap between Kodi and RetroPie, and whichever one is active when you shut down is the one that is active when you start up again (shut down on Kodi, start on Kodi/ shut down on RetroPie, start on RetroPie).
It works well for me.

I use the version from multibootpi too. Although I used the triple boot version but I didn't installed Rasbian from it. I don't know if it was recently updated again, but the first version I used only installed the RetroPie Addon for Kodi and the Kodi System for Emulation Station. When I made a fresh install a few months ago, it installed Rasbian for both although I didn't choose to install it. So I had to remove it by myself. I'm not sure which version @mattrixk is using, but on the triple boot version you can pick which system should start. I've set mine to always boot to Kodi. And from there I start RetroPie whenever I want.

@EctoOne I think it might have an "always boot in X" option, but I've never looked into it. The way it works for me now is the default (I think... it's been a while).

@mattrixk I see. Well for it was clear to only boot into Kodi. But I can see the use of your method. Like when I was setting up Uae4arm, I had to reboot multiple times and always manually start RetroPie. Anyways, it's always good to have options. :)
And aside from one issue I still need to figure out with Uae4arm, I'm pretty happy with my setup now. And a Dual-Boot System was the best step to get rid of the audio problem I had with the standalone RetroPie image. -
thanks for all replies.
I'm testing multibootpi right now.For retropi, when booting kodi as default even then i have to go to emulationstation to shutdown as the only option in kodi is exit on the power menu.

@arjanv only the first time you open it. The second time options to shutdown will be available
