How did the labels turn out?
Sorry for the delay, been bit busy with gigs and investigating a 1950s record player uprgrade project...
Stickers look amazing Flying, I will get round to finishing this project at some point, just not had the time to sort the switch out.
-
Hey! Looking great!
Glad they arrived in good condition.
Anything else is, let me know. -
@FlyingTomahawk any excursions to Hard Off recently? With the warm weather I'm starting to see more yard sales popping up, but sadly, no retro game finds just yet.
-
HOLY MAJIKARP.
You won't believe what came in the mail today.
I recently purchased an SNES that was broken so that I could put my Pi in it. But now I really want to play on it.

@itsnitro What's on the sticker? My SNES is "pub yellow" but didn't have a sticker by the power switch.
-
The sticker was just telling to turn off the SNES before removing or putting in a cartridge.
-
Nah, unfortunately no new hard-off visits recently.
I was too busy by being sick and with my other hobby. But I should go out there again and see what's around.Oh and btw. still no Mausberry here. In one week its gonna be 2 months. lol
First they forget to ship it out for a month and then they ship it out with the slowest shipping method?
At least they could send it via Airmail and not super slow banana boat shipping. -
That really sucks about the Mausberry. Hopefully it shows up soon.

While poking around eBay tonight I found that someone is reproducing the light gray MGB screen protectors. Still no sign of repro cases though.
I have a bid on a non-functioning gray MGB for dirt cheap. It's fairly beat up, but for $5 and having some scratches, I'd be ok with potentially modding it. I'm still on the lookout for one that's mint, but I have a feeling I won't find one for any reasonable amount on eBay. Even colors that aren't Japan-specific are going for quite a bit.
Now that I know I can get a repro white AGB case I've been on the lookout for a super cheap functioning AGB to to an AGB-101 mod. I don't know if it's me, but prices seem to be increasing lately, though I did find one going for cheap right now.

Branching out to try to find more cool retro game stuff online, I checked out Facebook, and there's a local guy selling a NES Classic if anyone is interested.

@obsidianspider Did you ever think of doing a GBA SP instead of a GBA?
-
@lilbud Not really. I own a AGS-001 from when they were new and I was never a huge fan of the form factor. (Yes, I realize I'm looking at making something from an Altoids tin, which is essentially the same kind of thing). My hands would tend to cramp up after a while when playing. I dunno, it's just not my favorite.
In setting a Zero on my SP it looks like it might fit, but from what I've seen done in the past by people attempting a Pi in a SP, the screen is the big challenge, along with the ribbon cable.
-
@obsidianspider Still have my Pearl Blue clamshell GBA.
-
@lilbud i prefer the original gba. They actually make a cable to be able to use a gba sp backlit screen inside an original gba. My buddy did one with the newer nicer gba sp backlit screens.
-
@edmaul69 @lilbud I'll be doing the AGB-101 mod to one as soon as I get a cheap, functional AGB. I have a bid on one and I'm watching a few more. The AGS-101-style screens are the most expensive part, at around $40. I've also been looking at damaged but working AGS-101s to use for the screen, but those are harder to find.
-
Aside from eBay, shopgoodwill, and CraigsList, does anyone have any good suggestions for looking for retro stuff online? Unfortunately, near me there aren't a ton of brick and mortar stores selling old stuff. GameStop is expensive and doesn't really go back past the DS/Wii era.
-
@obsidianspider i actually dont like the original frontlit gba sp screens.
-
@edmaul69 I had an AGS-001 when they first came out. The screen is not great, but it works. I didn't know the AGS-101 was even a thing until about 5 years ago.
-
@obsidianspider i liked the gameboy micro too because it had the nice backlit screen as well.
