Retro game stuff talk
-
I just found out about pricecharting.com and it's been an excellent resource as I look into some 3DS lots on eBay. If you're looking to buy some games online or at a local shop, it's worth looking them up there first.
-
@obsidianspider If you need a 3DS XL, I got one with a few games. I also have an old DS (although I can't seem to find it as of now).
-
@itsnitro I have a bid on one on eBay right now, but if that doesn't work out, I'll let you know. Thanks.
-
Well that just happened
After costing out the parts and such, this is a bit more than if I'd done it myself, but I don't think I overpaid. Now to wait for it to arrive.
-
@obsidianspider What you are scrapping a working GBA?
-
@CodeDrawer It's a GBA with a SP-101 screen in it.
I was looking at making an AGB-101 myself by buying a junk AGB, plus a new case, plus a screen, plus the required ribbon cable. This is only slightly more than the parts alone would have cost.
-
Sorry, I don't know the acronyms, just the names for the screen?
-
@CodeDrawer Gameboys all have a model number (it's on the back on a sticker.) So, a "regular" Gameboy Advance is model number AGB-001. A "regular" front-lit Gameboy Advance SP is model number AGS-001, and a backlit Gameboy Advance SP is model number AGS-101. When people mod a "regular" Gameboy Advance with a backlit screen from a Gameboy Advance SP, people call it an AGB-101.

Cool Thanks!

With DS Lite buttons and membranes together adding up to $8 (once you factor in shipping), I decided to buy two "broken" DS Lites from Japan for $6 each (including shipping) for the mintyPi build that wermy is getting together. (In case I wanted to make two, or I mess one up, or whatever.) They showed up today.
β¦and they work.
The D-Pad on the white one is a bit mushy, and the hinges are floppy, but they work. I almost feel bad for buying them to take apart for their buttons and speakers.
-
Haha. Well you can always never mind.
-
@FlyingTomahawk i got my famicom and controllers in today. Thanks. Looks good to me.
-
Thanks for the feedback.
Is it still in one piece? They didn't play soccer with the package?
Did you see the spare labels i put inside? -
@FlyingTomahawk one piece. No soccer damage because you didnt ship it through ups. :) I saw the extra stickers. That was awesome! Thank you. Now i can change the stickers on my friends famicom. Nice shipping time. I have stuff from china i ordered a month ago that i am still waiting on. So i was pleasently surprised to get the famicom today. Again, thank you so much.
-
Glad you like it.
If you need more of those labels let me know. I can print them anytime. Use a precision knife to cut them to avoid damage. Please keep an eye on the red, long Famicom label on the front. I didn't apply any new glue. It was still sticky so I just slaped it on as it was. With the temps rising in Summer it might suddenly fall off. If that happens please reapply new glue.
And don't damage or loose that red label, it is near impossible to get a new one.Airmail from Japan -> USA and vise versa takes about 1 week. China is mostly free shipping and they use economy or ship shipping.

@FlyingTomahawk i got my two extra controllers modded for use on my apple pi iie. :)
-
@edmaul69 nice! How did you wire them up?
-
@obsidianspider they are wired like a sega master system controller, but also using pins 5 & 7 for start and select. Atari joysticks use this pinout too. Except the 5v is on pin 7.
Signal Description
1 Up
2 Down
3 Left
4 Right
5 N/C ---- (5v on sms) ---I use for start
6 Button 1
7 Light sensor ------------ I use for select and 5v. I use a diode to seperate if i have both a button and rapid fire on a controller
8 GND
9 Button 2 -
Wow, that was quick!
Great work. Did you test them? -
@FlyingTomahawk yup. They work great.
