Retro game stuff talk

Glad you like it.
If you need more of those labels let me know. I can print them anytime. Use a precision knife to cut them to avoid damage. Please keep an eye on the red, long Famicom label on the front. I didn't apply any new glue. It was still sticky so I just slaped it on as it was. With the temps rising in Summer it might suddenly fall off. If that happens please reapply new glue.
And don't damage or loose that red label, it is near impossible to get a new one.Airmail from Japan -> USA and vise versa takes about 1 week. China is mostly free shipping and they use economy or ship shipping.

@FlyingTomahawk i got my two extra controllers modded for use on my apple pi iie. :)
-
@edmaul69 nice! How did you wire them up?
-
@obsidianspider they are wired like a sega master system controller, but also using pins 5 & 7 for start and select. Atari joysticks use this pinout too. Except the 5v is on pin 7.
Signal Description
1 Up
2 Down
3 Left
4 Right
5 N/C ---- (5v on sms) ---I use for start
6 Button 1
7 Light sensor ------------ I use for select and 5v. I use a diode to seperate if i have both a button and rapid fire on a controller
8 GND
9 Button 2 -
Wow, that was quick!
Great work. Did you test them? -
@FlyingTomahawk yup. They work great.
-
I lost my bid on the sweet New 3DS bundle I had been watching all week that had just about every Zelda and Mario DS game, but I think in the end I prevailed. Tonight I found a "barely used" one and won it for $97.
Barely used, still has original cases. The stylist pen box has been opened but all the pieces are in the package. The Mario cover case package has not been opened, neither has the cartridge carrier case box.
Now, to mod, or not to mod…
-
@obsidianspider Mod, flash carts work on new 3ds, buy a big enough sd card, and you'll be good
-
The AGB-101 showed up today, and by all accounts, it appears to have been done well/correctly. The case isn't perfect, but I knew that going into it.
Of course I took it apart.
I'm thinking about getting a BennVenn voltage regulator for it, but I want to test things out with some rechargeable batteries first to see how the screen reacts. On normal AAs, it's just fine.
-
Hey @obsidianspider So you got the screen from a DS?
-
@CodeDrawer No, the screen is from a Game Boy Advance SP, model AGS-101. Though, I'm not sure if it is a reproduction screen or not as it was pre-assembled when I bought it.
-
@obsidianspider Okay. I'll try and use the adafruit screen for my pi boy zero.
-
@CodeDrawer This isn't a Pi project. It's a Game Boy Advance that's been modded to use a backlit screen. It's otherwise stock.
-
Oh, cool!
-
Guess where I am now at this very moment?
-
@FlyingTomahawk probably a place that has Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages for less than I just paid for them. ;)
(Hopefully they're real)Oh, and you need to post photos. We live vicariously through your trips to Hard-Off.
-
You guessed right. :)
Unfortunately even after 2-3 months absence not much has changed.
They still had the white GBA for 2160 Yen but the grey Game Boy Pocket was gone.
They seem to have increased their Nintendo DS junk stock.Plenty of buttons and displays to salvage I guess.
Still it is always a great feeling to be around so many retro games or game stuff in general. -
All the gameboys! :O
-
@FlyingTomahawk I'm still kicking myself over that gray Pocket. I should have told you to get it, even with the scratched screen. The rest of it looked really nice. Oh well, there will be others I'm sure.
Thanks to your instigation I've picked up a few things on eBay (some handhelds and some games) but I'm not looking to have a stockpile of systems like that plastic tub full of broken DS Lites. ;)
-
The postal carrier today brought me a nice package from Florida. Not bad for $107 including shipping.
Oh, and there's a charger in that black zipper bag. ;)
I really don't need the Mario cover or the 3DS game holder, so I'll have to find a way to sell those. I don't see any brick and mortar stores that carry them that I could exchange them for store credit.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
