Retro game stuff talk

@obsidianspider
For that price he'd better show up. ;-P -

I haven't posted retro pickups in a while, so here's what retro stuff I've added since my last post with those awesome Christmas gifts. (I also bought a bunch of Switch games, but you don't want to see that.)
Nights: Journey of Dreams - Wii
I replaced the dead CMOS battery in my Dreamcast and upgraded to a replaceable battery holder while doing so. Now I don't have to set the clock every time I turn it on.
Not retro, but for a retro system. The Brawler64 is a really nice modern controller for the N64, and at only $30 + shipping it's way more affordable than the highly sought after Hori controllers
My first N64 game! Puyo Puyo Sun 64
and so I don't need to cut up my N64, a guy I know 3D printed a universal tray for me so I can play Japanese games without taking them apart or cutting up my console
I bought this neat little PC-shaped AM/FM radio with the intention of putting a Pi in it. I'm not sure what I'll make it do yet, but for now it's disassembled in a bag with dryer sheets because it stinks like smoke
I found a really clean copy of Tetris for NES. According to @celly this game is kind of OK
Most recently I picked up a PlayStation SCPH-7501 with the intention of eventually putting a PSIO in it. It was only $13 plus shipping for everything pictured, and it works perfectly, but wow, it was stinky like smoke and had a brown haze over everything. After a full teardown and cleaning it looks really nice and it is de-stinkifying in a huge bag with dryer sheets. PSIO won't be available again until March at the soonest, so it has time.

@obsidianspider βthis game is kind of OKβ?! You take that back! That game is awesome.
Nice haul btw. That Brawler pad live up to the hype? -
Get a GDEMU in that Dreamcast, they're awesome - and you don't have to worry about the laser burning out in the future.

I'd actually really like to get a USB GDROM as it has better compatibility, but attempting to buy one is a sketchy process at best.
-
@celly I only have one N64 game right now, but I can definitely say that it rocks with Puyo Puyo Sun 64. I have an EverDrive 64 v3 on the way, so I should be able to give it a better assessment soon.
-
@John_RM_70 I really want to do the same to my Dreamcast.
-
@celly I did mine, last summer. And can honestly say, it was the best purchase I have made since the C64 Pi1541, the Atari SIO2SD, Spectrum Divide. Really fast loading, much faster than the USB version, and great compatibility.

Speak of the devil, look what showed up today!
-
For no good reason at all; My VHS Pie-cover. .
-
@Dipkid That looks amazing! How'd you do it?
-
@itskryode googled a VHS cover template pdf, made the artwork in illustrator/Photoshop. Cutted w a CNC π

It's been a while since I hunted down some retro games, now with the cold weather work has become quiet and we got more time to visit game and used stores.
This weeks resultsDr. Mario (Famicom) 324 Yen
Verytex (Mega Drive JPN) 4354 Yen
Thunder Force II (Mega Drive JPN) 2702 Yen
Darius II (Mega Drive JPN) 2896 Yen
Super Real Basketball (Mega Drive JPN) 842 YenI told my self that I won't be collecting or buying any retro games especially Mega Drive stuff but it is really hard to resist especially if you find very good deals. I am especially proud of the Verytex purchase. That game goes for 10,000 - 12,000 Yen (for mint condition ) at the moment and I paid only 4354 Yen.
The game is mint as you can see here
In fact all Mega Drive games are in mint condition and I paid less than what they are currently worth.
Got my MD JPN collection to 56 games. 367 to go. To be continue...
And here a super expensive, rare MD game. 69,800 Yen ($636 USD) !!! Just to remind us why we actually shouldn't start to collect retro stuff. Thank god for repros.
I ordered one of those MD JPN reproduction games. Curious to see what the quality is like in comparison to real MD JPN games. I ordered Eliminate Down for 15 bucks. The original MD version is currently sold for 120,000 Yen ($ 1093 USD)
I'll post pics and info as soon I get it. -
Really nice. You'll have to share more of your Hard Off visits with us!
I know what you mean about buying stuff. Since I got my EverDrives I've shifted to only buying certain games, and when I do, I'm only going for boxed stuff.

Wow, your Japanese has definitely improved.
You can even write game titles now. ππ -

Another one down
Visited 4 stores today. Just the usual stuff.
This one store had a bunch of "regular" MD JPN stuff behind glass. -
Although not as impressive as @FlyingTomahawk or @obsidianspider, I did trek to the other side of town today to a used game store. Swapped up some loose carts and some Gameboys for some store credit. Left with these bad boys. I saw the Extreme Green Gameboy Pocket and couldnβt NOT get it.
