Open up rom and goes back to rom menu

So I recently got RetroPie working, some roms work but then other don't; a whole majority of them don't open up. I checked the runcommand.log and it keeps telling me "failed to open /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/gba/Banjo Pilot.GBA: No such file or directory" I know that i clearly have it saved in the SD card. Is there a way to fix this?

Are you launching these from Emulation Station? This is the type of error one normally sees from the terminal when launching a file without the proper syntax, like "Banjo\ Pilot.GBA" rather than "Banjo Pilot.GBA". What happens if you try to launch a game without a space or other non-alphanumeric character in it's title, like "tetris.xxx" for example?

Oh my god, You are my savior. It did work. So now I have to rename my all the files that have space between the rom name and its type. I renamed "Banjo Pilot .GBA" to "Banjo Pilot.GBA" I can't believe a simple space between the name and the type of file made a difference. Thank you so much.

Well, you shouldn't have to do any of that at all. It's really just symptomatic of whatever the real problem is. Does this happen when launching from all your systems? You said in your first post that you recently "got" RetroPie running. Were there any extraordinary things you had to do that might have possibly caused this behavior?

Before transferring over the roms I did a mass rename of the files to remove unwanted characters in the title of the roms...

OIC now... The extra space before the file extension. OK, yeah that was definitely the problem then. Say hi to Banjo for me.
