8Bitdo SFC30 RPI3 problems
-
Im currently using a 8Bitdo SFC30 with a RPI3 and I got the controller to pair sucessfully, it works perfectly fine within emulationstation, but whenever I start a game, the controller becomes inresponsive and does not work, forcing me to shutdown the PI, any solutions for this this?
-
@Mevzx what 8bitdo firmware are you on? If 1.69, downgrade to 1.68 and re pair.
-
I am on beta Firmware v2.68,. Should i downgrade to stable firmware 2.67 to see if it makes a difference?
-
@Mevzx sorry I guess the firmware versions are different, I have an nes30, but yeah give downgrading the firmware a shot and see what happens.
-
@theroamer @Mevzx Did anyone resolve this? I'm also having issues with my SNES30 controllers running v2.68 Beta 5 firmware. ES works fine, but no response from Retroarch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running RetroPie 4.0 Beta 2 on my RPI3.

@yoink have you verified that the nes30 or fc30 file in
opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads
isnt blank? I have had to manually set up these files for several controllers before.Edit: mods, i apologize but i could not get the path to code block

@pimpmaul69 Yeah I tried using the one created by ES and the one from libretro
https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-joypad-autoconfig Neither work. I'm wondering if I should downgrade my firmware to v2.67. -
I'm only on retropie 3.8.1 but I have two SNES30 working on RPI3 with firmware 2.67. As far as I can tell the SNES30 and SFC30 use the same firmware. Downgrading might be worth a shot. Note: Using Start+R mode when turning on conroller.

@evothian What mapping config are you using? Also do you need a special config for 2 controllers for 2 players?
-
I didn't have to do much config really. I don't have it in front of me right now but all I did was the following.
- Update the setup script to get the additional bluetooth config options (you might not have to do this since you're on v4)
- Pair them through the bluetooth config tool
- Use the built in "Configure Input" tool to map the buttons
- Step 2 here retropie wiki except I used the string "8Bitdo SNES30 GamePad Joystick" instead of SFC
- I changed the bluetooth connect mode to background instead of once on boot (in the bluetooth config tool) so that I can turn them on/off whenever and have them reconnect
