New Comic Book Theme!
-
@jfick13 Slowly try to increase VRAM now - 10 by 10, until you find a compromise that works well for your system. :)
The underrun issues are, unfortunately, par for the course, not related to a theme per se.

ok so i switched the transition from slide to fade and seems to cleared up the issue thanks for the help guys. this theme is awesome. thanks tmnturtle guy

Thanks to @pjft for providing a new ES build update that includes the screensaver/omx player/and the current main branch of ES, I hope to be able to update this theme to v2.0 this comming week to work with all the new updates including max size! (I will leave v1.0 as is for those running systems without maxSize) When I work on this I would like to add a few more system names to the theme, but as I have no plans on using any of them personally I would like to get some requests. The top # of request I get will be what I start with. I am thinking a general Mame will be my first addition. Please let me know your top requests!
-
@TMNTturtlguy I'd be happy to suggest some, let me double check which ones are missing and report back today or tomorrow!
-
currently running 24 systems with videos with no problems.

@jfick13 awesome to hear! Thanks for the update

Just a question. I am new to the world of retropie and am curious as to how I may add this theme to my pi. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!!!
-
@R3phil I am just on my iPhone right now, so maybe someone else can help out fill in any info I might miss.
First you need to be able to access the files on you pi by either an ftp client like winscp or you can also connect your pi to your home network and access the files that way. You can search the forum/the docs/ or google on how to do this.
Once you have access you will need to go to home/.emulationstation/themes and simply paste the theme folder as downloaded from github. The theme folder may not exist, so you might have to create the theme folder within the home/.emulationstation
There is also a way to do all of this from the command line or using shh like putty.
Sorry I don't have more links for you, but simply search for this information and there are a lot of detailed instructions on how to do this.

@TMNTturtlguy Thank you for the reply. I am trying to get it installed now. I think i see what you mean. I just want you to know the screenshots look amazing and I can't wait to get this thing installed!!!!

UPDATE! ComicBook_4-3 is now Available
Github link: ComicBook_4-3
This is a full up and running version of the ComicBook theme in 4:3 aspect ratio. This is V0.0 (so as not to confuse this with V1.0 which is the 16:9 version) The theme should be fully functional and works with the most current up to date Emulation Station with maxSize and the carousel updates. This also works with @pjft updated Screensaver OMX player ES Build.
I have found that for my builds, I need to lower my VRAM to 70 in the newest updated ES. In previous versions of ES I had to set my VRAM to 120. If you have white screens or glget errors. Adjust your VRAM up or down and this will correct the issue.
Please read the readme.txt file for more information and how to make modifications to work with your current system.
This will support all systems, however not all systems are completed with updated logos/graphics. This version now contains an expanded list of completed systems.

Update: ComicBook 16:9 v2.0 Now Available!
Github Link: ComicBook v2.0
This is a full up and running update to the original 16:9 theme released last week. This is v2.0. The theme should be fully functional and works with the most current up to date Emulation Station with maxSize and the carousel updates.

FB Alpha

Mame-advmame
Mame-Libretro
Mame-mame4all
Mega Drive
NeoGeo
Ports
ScummVM
SteamI have also updated v1.0 to v1.1 Github link: ComicBook v1.1 This update keeps the original theme settings for Emulation Station prior to maxSize. It has the added systems. I do not plan to update this version any further as v2.0 for the Main Branch of ES will be the standard theme moving forward.
Also see my previous post just above this for the 4:3 aspect ratio version.
If you have any questions/comments/issues please let me know. Thanks!

@TMNTturtlguy thanks again for this awesome theme. is it possible to have fgc and sfc folders or should i just use the nintendo folders?
-
@jfick13 Thanks! I believe that Family Computer and Super Famicom point to the NES and SNES folders. What i could do is create a log for each of those games and add it to the folder and then give you instructions on how to modify the comic_book.xml file so that the "Super NES" Would change to "Super Famicom" and "Nintendo" would change to "Family Computer"
Would that work for you?
-
@TMNTturtlguy appreciated but not necessary . ill be happy with the nintendo folders thanks again
-
What an awesome design I can't wait for the release!
-
@solidfrogg it is released! The links for each version are in the posts above!
-
@TMNTturtlguy Well done on the new release!
I had been meaning to provide a list of "wishes/polite requests" for systems, at a non-defined timeframe but in case you'd have the chance in the future, as you had requested it.
They are, more or less in order:
- ZX Spectrum
- PC Engine
- SegaCD
- Sega 32x
- Master System
- PC
- Game and Watch
- Kodi
- N64
- Daphne
I'm more than happy to help in any way - what would be helpful for these systems? No urgency nor expectation whatsoever, it's already pretty great as is!
Thanks :)

@TMNTturtlguy Im testing your impressive theme in my pi3B.After reading the readme.txt and testing the VRAM changes you advise, I do not run the theme correctly. All with white background. Any help?
