I just grabbed FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged. The last time I tried to set up set up FBA I could not get most of the games to work. I did a lot of trouble shooting, Bio etc.

Last time I just used The Unarchiver to un zip but further reading in the read me file says I need to use Trrntzip. I have a have a Unix executable that I grabbed from here but I don't know how to use it.

I also have the "MAME2003_Reference_Set_MAMEO.78_ROMs_CHDs_Samples so I'll need to get this process sorted for that as well.

      Any and all help welcome.

I'll give it another go. It has been a while so hopefully this time it will all work out.

you should be ok, as i said i am on a mac too and i have been using emulators since the days of mame .29, as well as pretty much every system out there, i have never had to use any other apps to decompress files.

bear in mind though, that mame roms should be left as zipped files, there is no need to unzip them. it may be that in the past you have got roms from an 'unmerged' set where if you don't have the parent rom with all the relevant files in it any variations wont run.
