Hiding Roms

Just curious if there is a way to hide roms. Of course i can delete them so as to reduce the amount in the list but I'm a little concerned about removing too many as there is the whole parent/sibling thing and a worried I'll start breaking some games should i start culling them. Ideally I'd like to just hide them but leave them in the roms folder... is it possible?

Create a hidden folder inside the ROMs folder. roms/snes/.hidden for example.

You only have to worry about breaking links between clone and the parents with arcade games, as opposed to console games.
If you wanted you could filter out all clones using a tool like romlister
