Inexpensive USB PS Style Controller

So, I'm trying to find my optimum controller set up for various styles of games. I've tried some fairly pricey ones that I haven't liked and some cheap ones that I've loved.

I already found my 2D favorite, the Pokken Tournament controller for Wii U. The D-pad is fantastic and I got the controllers for $14 each!

My problem is I can't find an inexpensive controller for my 3D style games. I got some pricey X-Box 360 controllers but they are making me crazy. I have learned that I do not like the asymmetrical thumbsticks at all, they are also super chunky to hold.

I would much rather have a PS stype controller. My issue is that I refuse to pay for another $60 name brand controller after being disappointed with the Xbox ones. Does anybody know of a decent quality but reasonably priced PS style controller? Wireless function is not a big deal to me. Vibration would be nice, but it's not required either.

I've been eyeing the Logitech generic USB controller but it has mixed reviews. Any thoughts? (I'm running the latest release of Retropie on a Raspberry Pi 3.)

@BeldarTheBrave you can buy a used sony ps3 controller cheap. Make sure it isnt a bootleg. I have only seen bootlegs in black. It has rumble. It can be wired and wireless. One thing you can tell a bootleg or real one is: the sticker is almost perfectly applied. Bootlegs appear to be hand applied. The real sony voltage says 3.7v 300ma. The bootlegs are different. If you run your finger across the four charge lights and you feel any jagged, it is fake. If you look at the pinhole in the back and instead of black rubber, you see the motherboard, it is fake. I recommend just using a ps3 controller if it is what you like.

I like the wired Rocky Candy or Afterglow PS or 360 controllers just fine for around $20 US. I also use a cheap $14 Snakebyte PS3 controller found at Walmart on RaspberryPi and my PC just fine. My old PS1 controllers work great also with a PS to PC USB convertor.

@xaGe the rock candys are nice. I made a pi for a friend with the xbox 360 ones.

@edmaul69 for the money you pay I think the quality is there. They're fairly well built, holdup nice, buttons feel pretty good as does the d-pad.

In comparison the Snakebyte brand are OK, but the d-pad doesn't feel as nice.

@Lodan-Zark those Logitechs are also nice for the money too.

I have that converter or one looking just like it, but it didn't work too long before it stopped working(might of gotten a bad one) and was also very picky about the game pad you used when it did work on my PC. A converter is a good idea though if you have older PSX controllers. I still use my 20 year old PSX Asciiware fight stick with a Gameon converter on my PC and my Raspberry Pi just fine.
