need to replace avmame12.dat file or already exist

Hi
Recently acquired a bunch of mame roms (adv mame 1.2 ). Also got image files along with roms and a gameslist.xml and advmame12.dat file . I am in processing of transferring roms to mame-advance directory.
I guess I would need to transfer image files and gameslist.xml to same mame-avance directory ??
Not sure about advmame12.dat file - do i need to tarnsfer this to retropie or does one already exist in retropie and no need ??
