Via sftp / samba or SSH. See transferring ROMs in documentation.

I added nearly 2000 roms from a usb drive, but i deleted them from the usb yet the roms are all still listed in retropie, is there anyother way to remove without having to use wi-fi?

@epd you cannot remove files via the USB transfer method. You can remove them on the RPI directly via the filemanager and a keyboard. If you put the micro sd card in a PC you can remove them using something like http://www.ext2fsd.com/
Over the network is easiest though.

You could probably do it in file manager if you have a keyboard attached to the pi. Find it in the Retropie menu. The f1-f10 key shortcuts are listed at the bottom.

I got a keyboard set up in file manager and i can delete one by one, any ideas how to delete all instantly as this is going to take forever
-
@epd you can remove entire folders or multi select etc

Sorted, thanks, the insert key highlights all files when held down

Additionally if you press the asterisk on the number pad, it will select all in a folder, or you can specify filters using the plus key to select and the minus key to deselect based on a file mask.

First time poster, new to retropie.
When using a samba share from a windows pc, I can add and rename rom files but it won't let me delete them. I receive a message saying I don't have permission. Does anyone know which permissions I need to change for this?Retropie 4.2 and raspberry pi 3 b
