Are you sure you are using Retropie 2.7? The current version on the website is 4.2. Also can you complete the list in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ?

use a good power supply

@thebear123 as @Xeon stated use a good sd card. Your sd card is probably crappy. A legitimate samsung sd card (not ebay bootleg special) wont corrupt so easily. To properly shutdown, in emulationstation press start, go to quit, shutdown. Then you need to wait until your tv screen changes showing it lost signal before unplugging it.

@edmaul69 And it's not the SD-card, it's the monitor. It works perfectly on a TV, but it doesn't work on my monitor

@thebear123 so why are you re-imaging if it still runs on your tv. Sounds to me the image is fine, you have an issue with the signal to you monitor. Make sure your monitor is on first and you are securely plugged in. Then I would check your cable.

Do you make any changes to you system after you install it? Do you change the boot file or any video settings?

@thebear123 what monitor? Is it vga, dvi, or hdmi? What is the max resolution of the monitor?

@edmaul69 It's DVI, and I don't know the Max resolution, but I think it's 720X1080. But it's kinda weird shaped, it's almost a square
